I Don't Wanna Stop
Ozzy Osbourne Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm making my own decisions
This thing that I found
Ain't gonna bring me down
I'm like a junkie without an addiction
Mama, don't cry
I just wanna say hi
Everybody's walking, but nobody's talking
It looks a lot better from here
All my life I've been over the top
I don't know what I'm doing
All I know is I don't wanna stop
All fired up, I'm gonna go till I drop
You're either in or in the way
Don't make me, I don't wanna stop
Why don't they ever listen to me?
It's just a one-way conversation
Nothing they say is gonna set me free
Don't need no mental masturbation
Too many religions but only one God
I don't need another savior
Don't try to change my mind
You know I'm one of a kind
Ain't gonna change my bad behavior
All my life I've been over the top
I don't know what I'm doing
All I know is I don't wanna stop
All fired up, I'm gonna go till I drop
You're either in or in the way
Don't make me, I don't wanna stop
All my life I've been over the top
I don't know what I'm doing
All I know is I don't wanna stop
All fired up, I'm gonna go till I drop
You're either in or in the way
Don't make me, I don't wanna stop
Are you in there?
I don't wanna stop
Are you ever going to stop?
I don't wanna stop
I don't wanna stop
Are you in there?
I don't wanna stop
I don't wanna stop
Are you ever going to stop?
I don't wanna stop
All my life I've been over the top
I don't know what I'm doing
All I know is I don't wanna stop
All fired up, I'm gonna go till I drop
You're either in or in the way
Don't make me, I don't wanna stop
All my life I've been over the top
I don't know what I'm doing
All I know is I don't wanna stop
All fired up, I'm gonna go till I drop
You're either in or in the way
Don't make me, I don't wanna stop
The lyrics of "I Don't Wanna Stop" by Ozzy Osbourne express an attitude of independence, self-confidence, and rebellion. The singer is tired of being told what to do and how to think, and is determined to make his own choices, even if they are risky or unconventional. He compares himself to a junkie, addicted to the rush of living on the edge, but not dependent on any particular substance or activity. He rejects the idea of being saved or converted by any religious or ideological system, insisting on his individuality and autonomy. Throughout the song, he repeats the refrain "All my life I've been over the top, I don't know what I'm doing, all I know is I don't wanna stop," emphasizing his lack of direction but also his refusal to conform to anyone else's expectations.
The song can be interpreted as a manifesto of rock and roll ethos, celebrating the spirit of rebellion and nonconformity that has characterized the genre since its inception. Ozzy, who has been a symbol of rock rebellion for decades, delivers the lyrics with a raw and powerful voice, emphasizing the emotional intensity and defiance of the message. The verses also contain references to social isolation ("everybody's walking, but nobody's talking") and familial relationships ("Mama, don't cry, I just wanna say hi"), suggesting a deeper layer of personal struggle and alienation behind the bravado.
