Road to Nowhere
Ozzy Osboyrne Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I was looking back on my life
And all the things I've done to me
I'm still looking for the answers
I'm still searching for the key

The wreckage of my past keeps haunting me
It just won't leave me alone
I still find it all a mystery
Could it be a dream?

The road to nowhere leads to me

Through all the happiness and sorrow
I guess I'd do it all again
Live for today and not tomorrow
It's still the road that never ends

The wreckage of my past keeps haunting me
It just won't leave me alone
I still find it all a mystery
Could it be a dream?

The road to nowhere leads to me

Ah, ah
The road to nowhere's gonna pass me by
Ah, ah
I hope we never have to say goodbye
I never want to live without you

The wreckage of my past keeps haunting me
It just won't leave me alone
I still find it all a mystery
Could it be a dream?

The road to nowhere leads to me

Repeat x6

Overall Meaning

Ozzy Osbourne's Road to Nowhere is a reflective song about looking back on one's life and realizing that despite everything that has happened, there is still a sense of mystery and unanswered questions. The singer of the song is haunted by the wreckage of their past and is still searching for answers and the key to understanding their life. The road to nowhere represents the journey that we all take, where we experience both happiness and sorrow, and where we must choose to live in the present instead of always worrying about the future. The singer repeats the line "the road to nowhere leads to me" several times, emphasizing the idea that all of our life experiences are what make us who we are today.

The lyrics of the song are open to interpretation, but many fans and critics have suggested that the song might reflect Ozzy's personal experiences with substance abuse and addiction. The line "the wreckage of my past keeps haunting me" could refer to the negative consequences of drug and alcohol abuse, while the repeated refrain "the road to nowhere leads to me" might suggest a feeling of being lost and directionless in life. However, these interpretations remain speculative, and the song can be interpreted in a variety of ways by different listeners.

I m still listening to this tune since it came out (No more tears🙏record) My brother brought it home. A copy on cassette. I was a kid but I had a spiritual awakening listening to it. I remember a cloudy day. I looked at the sky darkening and listened to the final solo of Zakk. A voice went in my mind like this : 'There must be more than flesh and bones in this life".
I also suffered of drug addiction in life. About 20 years of my life.
I quit and found a new way of living.
I am a professor today and I still listen to that tune. I still get the spiritual awakening I got when I was a kid and I m very grateful. I can help other addicts today and this song never leaves me alone.

Still my favourite band (R.I.P Randy).

To all addicts: There is a way out.

All my love.
