Poor Adam were a band from Southwestern Virginia comprised of members of ot… Read Full Bio ↴Poor Adam were a band from Southwestern Virginia comprised of members of other local bands (Parking Lot Bright, Last Second Heroes, Moon B))), Bro.Koe) that frequently defied falling into any particular genre. The band played frequent gigs during 2010, but split up before an album was finished. Most available recordings are thanks to their habit of recording themselves as they wrote their songs with a single microphone hanging from the ceiling of their practice space, and as such are low quality. Much of their music was improvised (even live), and the result was many differing versions of every song.

The band briefly reunited in 2011 to record a number of stripped-down folk songs, and sporadic recording continued into 2012. As of March 2012, they currently have no future plans of playing or recording any more music together.

My method of skipping class:
Bring phone, Nintendo switch, manga, candy whatever you would rather be doing than the class
Wear old black shirt with buttons that’s 3x too big for me
Wear belt underneath
Before going to class, put items in locker and don’t fully close door
Head to class and let them take attendance of you
Ask to use the bathroom
Go to locker and fully open the door and get the things you want, because you didn’t fully close it the teacher can’t hear you opening it if it’s near your classroom
Put phone in pocket, manga and Nintendo switch between belt and candy in pocket
Put your Jacket fully down so it’s covering the items
Go to teacher/ gender neutral bathroom
Hang out for 5-10 mins (if it’s a big class you can sometimes get away with 15-20)
Go back to put items in locker and enter the classroom

Fun story. So teachers always told me if you need a break just leave. So we we’re in a math class and we had a new playground that year, and we had windows right outside facing the park we’re kids were playing and we all were looking and a few kids were whispering about it. The teacher who we shall call… Dorthy, she’s in her early 30’s and this is her first year teaching and she says to the class “if you want to interpret my class than leave” so I stood up walked out sat in the hall on my phone. She came out and got me asked if I was all right I came back in. afterwards this was my friends perspective. “Dorthy” leaves the room suddenly kids start standing up everyone’s heading towards the door it’s crowded only like five kids out of thirty sitting. Some have coats on hats. When they hear the classic heels and my friend said there was a stampede back to there desks knocking over chairs they made it somehow not sure wizards. And that was the day I almost got my teacher fired 😅 I was the talk of the school for quite a while for being “brave” it was more just stupidity and frustration and the slightest of guts

I’m in algebra 2 right now (as a sophomore) and I can completely relate to being good at math but not liking it. I mean let’s be honest, that’s pretty much how everyone feels about math whether they’re good at it or not. Ironically, we also have this kid in that class who will just discreetly leave and then come back like half an hour later and I guess the teacher just hasn’t noticed this pattern yet even though he’s been doing it for the whole semester.

My lifeline through the high school slog was art. Filled roughly four sketchbooks per year, and the teachers hated me for it. I was one of those students who could just listen to background drone, and get the gist of it. Head always stuck in a sketchbook. I was content with that, scraping along at the bare minimum. The hourly passing period breaks to go smoke probably didn't help. Heheh.
But I made it through! Launched myself into art college with a HUGE work portfolio, and I think that's enough to be proud of. ^_^

Man, I used to do this back in high school. I fucking hated math and sociology so I just purposefully not take a shit in the first break period on the days where either of those two classes are on the last period. My math teacher was known as a killer teacher so I'm genuinely impressed at how she didn't catch on for literally half a year of me doing this. To be fair, it wasn't everytime. So, actual factual Middle School teacher here- this is less for Adam and more for anyone that might actually be in school right now. If you've got a real problem with paying attention in class, speak up! Schools these days have plenty of resources to help students that might have issues with paying attention. In my class, I try to encourage students to find ways to learn that's good for them- you like to doodle in your notes, fine, make comics about Ancient Rome in the margins. (I teach World History) You're nodding off, I gotchu- get some water, if you need to stand or stretch your legs, fine. And if you think your teacher might not be understanding (please remember, we probably will be- it is our job, after all) talk to your school guidance counselor, that's literally what they're there for.

Okay so I relate to this so much. One year I had this history teacher who fits the description of your teacher perfectly. Except instead of math he was teaching history but that's not the point. That man was so boring to listen to that ,and i don't recommend this, but i did fall asleep in his class a couple times. The way I dealt with this however was either chewing gum so I can be doing some, kicking my legs but like changing the order ever couple minutes, or just do what you did and go to the restroom. I never got caught either. One time I ran into 2 of my friends as well so that was fun.

I once locked myself in a bathroom stall with my laptop and earbuds and just watched YouTube in seventh grade for the entirety of my 100 minute language lesson to avoid the speech assessment (I'm fine with public speaking but for some reason I just reeeaaally didn't want to do it that day). We got a new teacher in that class and eventually she made me do it but just to her and I still got a B+. :D
Another time I was doing a photography thing for a media class and we had a sub who was actually really nice and I asked her if I could take one of the iPods to go take some pictures (even though I already had all the pictures I needed) and she said sure so I just walked around the school for a bit before coming back and discreetly grabbing my laptop and earbuds to lock myself in the same stall and proceeded watch YouTube for like half an hour before coming back. The first 40 seconds of this video are so relatable. Whenever there's just a crap ton of stimuli around me in class, I get really angsty and stressed out. So I use my get out of jail free card, (bathroom pass, *cough, cough*) and it is a freaking life saver! When I was younger I did the same thing. I used to leave the class for ages. I was a master at it. I knew the exact amount of time needed to be in between toilet visits (45 minutes with most teachers but 1 hour and 20 minutes with my physics teacher.) but then they asked my parents if I had any sort of problem because I was going to the loo a lot and I actually do have a medical problem with my bladder so... perks. So, in fifth grade, my last year in elementary, the boys did a lot of stuff in those bathrooms, they had fights, made messes, and the worst, on of the kids. We'll call, Endi. Endi crawled out the window one day, but Endi was on of those football kids, now now, the bathroom is on the first floor, so he didn't get hurt, but one of the janitors saw him climb out the window, and he got suspended for two days. I feel bad. You have no clue how many times that has happened to me in the car on the frikin highway. From ages 7-12 I have been in that situation, just way worse. I had a similar situation when I was in elementary school. But instead of me going to the bathroom to ditch class, I went to the bathroom for the sake of just going to the bathroom. I drank a lot of water whenever I went to water fountains, and I ended up having to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes in class. It got to the point where I got in trouble and my teacher called my parents and explained to them what was going on with my bathroom trips. Luckily for me, I do not have to go as much as I did when I was a kid.

I did this ALOT in gym class! I do my own specialized exercises on my own time and I am pretty fit...but being told what to do and how to do it is just not my style...I mean everyone is different and should be able to beat to their own drum! Also the gym teachers were awful and would pit the athletic sports teams against the non athletes during soccer, football, baseball or any other game being played in gym class. And the athletic students were just as horrible, taking advantage of this situation Andrew indulging in the easy A's! Also I am pretty sure one of the two gym teachers was a bit sexist towards women...he wasn't friendly towards the female students...but he treated all the guys like they were best buds. That pissed me off and so during the final semester of my senior I had had enough of gym class and would just ditch all together...I mean all I ever learned anyway was how horrible people could be if it suits their own desires or needs.

I'm dead! 🤣I skipped the entire second half of the school day for half a year by just walking out the front gate. The seniors had early release at lunch time, so my Junior self just left with them, walking like I had every right to do this and I belonged there. No one else saw me or questioned me or SAID ANYTHING! But "Toilet Destroyer"? 🤣I can't, man! That's like a medieval title of nobility or something! Ah! I've never laughed so hard, I swear.

I only really skipped my German class and my gym class. The German teacher we had was awful and we were on the same subject for about 2 months once. Once the pandemic started, I basically quit. Failed that class so bad.

This actually happened to me when I was in school, and im queen petty. I asked her 3xs THREE TIMES! So to make a point, i peed myself, made her feel horrible about it, and involved the principal. I got moved out of her class and she had to get supervised. To be fair she was a HORRIBLE person. Like shaming kids and zeroing out the ones who were obviously having trouble.

I had one class where I kinda skipped but also kinda didn't 😅 For some reason, I would always feel super drained and fall asleep during it (funnily enough it was also always a 2 hour class). My VERY cool, patient and understanding teacher obviously noticed. But instead of waking, humiliating or reporting me, he started to quiz me after class on what was covered that day. After a while we realised that in my light sleep, I was still conscious enough to take in the lessons. After that he continued to just let me sleep in class, with the occasional test to make sure I was still "paying attention", so to speak ❤ my fav teacher ever, will never forget him! I'm even taking his subject in university these days!

What's funny about this is that the only reason why he was ditching class was because he was so bored he couldn't think or concentrate he didn't doing it because he didn't think school was important he just couldn't handle how bored that one class made him

One time at school, we did this maths quiz and we were put into random groups and I got put in the same group as the person whos the best at maths. They solved most of the problem tbh but then they gave me the sheet with the rough work to keep safe. Then I went into the room with paper to get paper to draw. I was holding the rough work and everyone was asking me for the answer. So I did the completely normal thing of eating the paper. They were disgusted but it kinda tasted nice?

In middle school (now I don't have to do this that often) I was allowed to leave the classroom if I needed to calm down (I have sensory processing disorder). Once not only I was overloaded but also I felt a panic attack coming. I managed to say to the teacher that I need to go out but she said no. She finally let me go when she saw that I really struggled to catch my breath and I was literally trembling. Whenever I experience sensory overload I can't speak too much, so that teacher was lucky to hear full sentence from me.

Back at my middle school in the topography class i've had a teacher who was verry strict and had also an monotone voice, (I really needed to keep myself awake) but to get to the point, they hated nothing more then kids from other classes hiding in his class (if you got caught you had to clean the schoolgrounds). We had this one kid in school who liked to get chased or hide in another class and streamed it live on social media most of the time which would make some students help them escape or hide. So this one day they we're hiding underneath one of the desks with some school bags blocking the teachers view but because of my teachers voice they'd actually fell asleep and i just came with the bright idea to throw water into their face at that time it seemed funny to me (Never do that to a sleeping person twice you're size) , luckly they got caught and i didn't got punched in the face.

honestly, my strategy to deal with boring teachers was to read. I have gotten in trouble for reading fiction in class, for reading non-fiction in class, and for reading the wrong section of the assigned reading in class.

I don't know what everyone else's boring class Experiences were like, but for me if I got bored in class, I just read a book.
Here are my 3 reasons why:
1) I was too scared to skip a class and was a big rule follower
2) I didn't own a phone until I was 18 and was about to graduate high school
3) fantasy romance books are super fun to read! (Especially Mangas)

I've ditched PE in 3rd grade. We had this really bad sub since our teacher had left to do whatever it was (can't remember, too long ago). There was a few of us, usually just me, one problematic kid, one quiet kid, and one really annoying kid, and one of my friends. Then one day, after about a month or so, the teacher sent us to the principal's office. That day, there were 6 of us. Same as usual but another one of my friends was with us. That person actually did have a reason, she had a cough but no doctor's note. But I think it was fair she skipped PE since she was coughing and wheezing like a broken car. Ok, maybe not that bad, but still. Another one proceeded to vomit in the trash can on the way there, two ditched us and went to PE, apparently claiming they went to the bathroom which was why they were late. I used my knees hurting as an excuse. They didn't hurt, but they usually did. The last person just got sent off to PE. Oh and of course they called my parents but didn't call the other person's parents. But yeah. That was fun. We did Mad Libs and stuff in that class as well. During class.

my teachers will make an alert and call someone if you're gone too long and will quite likely just say no you can't go if they're not really in the mood to let you go, especially if you have a record of leaving class a lot.
multiple teachers at my school have been known to time people when they leave to go to the toilet which is a bit intrusive if you ask me.

I agree with Adam on the math thing. It's my least favorite subject because I'm good at it. If I'm doing stuff that ACTUALLY progresses my math skills, it's fine. BUT NOT MATH I KNOW ALREADY.

This was public school for me but ten times worse cuz the breather would translate to an anxiety attack and then I'd be exhausted so I passed out, this happened every class every day and we had 7 classes a day...and no recess or study hours 💀

I failed every single class except choir and there were several classes I retook that I AGAIN FAILED but I got to a point where I did exactly what my teachers wanted to hear and literally stopped trying, and I felt so , so much better... I graduated 2 years late from an online public school pre covid because it was self directed, way less strict hours meaning almost never waking up early, and required to only have one class at a time which was way more manageable and I believe how school actually should be... and I'm supposed to get my diploma next month 🤧😁

I uncontrollably fell asleep during algebra II. I would go in, be perfectly awake and then "bam!" I'd almost fall out of my seat. I blame it on low blood sugar but I ended up switching teachers because I was failing the class. I never fell asleep and I passed the class with an A-. Don't be afraid to switch teachers kids.

I know this is really late to the party but I hope you some others can get some laughs out of this.
My junior year of high school I was having a rough time at home & affected my health. I would get stomach aches & headaches on & because of stress & anger problems. Sometimes I would have a headache that would end up with me throwing up. My teachers all know I had stomach problems so I never had to ask to leave & if I needed a break they just let me go to art class or help out around the school since they thought I was a good kid.
Anyways, I always helped out with dances. Set up & taking down decorations & even allowed free admission because of all the work I would do. I never was the dancing type so I would just hang out with friends & or teachers. But one of these dances I got there early to set up but had a headache from a day before & because I didn't want to still home I just show up tough up & went & do my jobs & figured I can just sleep it off in the admins office. My principal at the time was in there & I was tossing & turning trying to find a comfortable position because my stomach was acting up & then I had the feeling. I'M GOING TO THROW UP!!! So I figured it out in time & made my way to the bathroom & I kicked in the door & stopped like a deer in head lights.
One of my classmates was on the floor crying & a teacher, who literally just started not even a week before, was trying to calm her down. I just standing there & was all like. Why the hell or you crying for?
Her boyfriend didn't want to dance with her, so my anger ass didn't want to throw up in the some room with a crying girl so after telling her to shut her ass up & deal with her boyfriend & ended up with me leaving the bathroom, going to the gym & grab that moron to get him to apologize to his girlfriend so I can throw up in peace.
They talk & hugged & my teacher was impressed with me & then I immediately went to the bathroom to puke my guts out.
My buddy had drive me home after that.
