Freight Train
Paris Jackson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I didn't know what hit me 'til it was too late
My heart ain't somethin' I can, amputate
Now, now
You broke me all the way down
Down, down
My walls are tumblin' down

And it's excruciatin'
Hangin' around on a nail
You're intoxicatin' us, debatin' love
Creatin' dust to blow off

I don't want this weight I'm, draggin' around my collar
I don't want to waste another single second on it
All I've got is time
And drownin' on my mind

You shattered every barricade, so I
Ended up dazed amazed betrayed, yeah I
Am tossed, I'm exhausted
Oh, I'm lost
I'm longin' and lost

And I'm devastated
Hanging around on a nail
We're deterioratin' us, debatin' trust
Creatin' love to blow up

I don't want this fate, just dead in the ground, don't bother
'Cause I don't want to waste another single second on it
All I've got is time
And drownin' on my mind

You came right in like a freight train
I feel myself goin' off the tracks again

Overall Meaning

The song “Freight Train” by Paris Jackson talks about the pain of heartbreak and the confusion that comes with it. The singer of the song realizes that their heart has been broken only after it's too late to do something about it. The pain is excruciating, and they feel like they are hanging on a nail, intoxicated by the love that they once had. The singer was shattered by their former lover, and now they feel lost, exhausted, and betrayed. Every barrier they once had has now been broken, and they are left with nothing but time to drown in the pain.

Throughout the song, the singer expresses their deep desire to move on from the pain and heartbreak. They don't want to waste any more time or energy on something that has caused them so much pain; they just want to let it go. However, the pain is so heavy that it feels like a weight around their neck, something they can't easily get rid of. They feel like they are suffocating, with every breath bringing them closer to drowning in their emotions.

The chorus of "Freight Train" describes how the former lover came into the singer's life like a freight train, causing chaos and destruction in their emotional world. The singer feels like they are going off the tracks again, a metaphor for their life spinning out of control. The song explores the powerful emotions we feel when we experience heartbreak, and the deep longing to move on from the pain and the heartache.

hi there Hey you! What do you know about music?
Nothing, I guess.

Internet de ton Pere pseudo de mes deux it trips me out too that she's purposely avoiding letting her music get super famous. Being her dad's daughter, all she has to do to get her songs played on the radio & perform at music awards shows, etc is make a couple phone calls & utilize her family name. Instead, she books her performances at small pubs & avoids the spotlight. Kinda can't blame her though. She grew up with her dad trying to protect his kids from media criticism/ drama, by trying to hide them under masks. She can't wear a mask forever. It seems she definitely still prefers to stay in the shadows for now though, rather than reach world wide fame like her dad did.

@Karina Kemežaitė Ariana? She's not even in the picture when there are singers like Floor Jansen and Devin Townsend around!
