I've Gotta Run
Pasek and Paul Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Whether I find a place in this world or never belong
I've gotta be me, I've gotta be me
What else can I be but what I am?
I want to live, not merely survive
And I won't give up this dream of life
That keeps me alive
The dream that I see makes me what I am
That faraway prize, a world of success
Is waiting for me if I heed the call
I won't settle down or settle for less
As long as there's half a chance that I can have it all
I'll go it alone, that's how it must be
I can't be right for somebody else if I'm not right for me
I've gotta be me, I've gotta be me
Daring to try to do it or die, I've gotta be me
I can't be right for somebody else if I'm not right for me
I've gotta be me, I've gotta be me
Daring to try to do it or die,
I've gotta be me
The song "I've Gotta Run" by Pasek and Paul's is all about living your life to the fullest and being true to yourself. The lyrics talk about not caring whether you're right or wrong as long as you're being true to yourself. It also touches on the idea that the journey of life is just as important as the destination.
The singer wants to live their life and pursue their dreams, regardless of whether they find their place in the world or not. They want to be themselves and will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals, even if they have to go it alone. The lyrics express a sense of fearlessness and determination to live life on their own terms.
