Dave I really hope your not suggesting somehow this was her fault that she did it to herself as well because she was talking to her partner while driving. I can understand texting because you have to look down while texting on the phone and if your looking at the phone then obviously your not watching the road. If a person is on speaker phone and the phone isn't in her hands to me it's no difference it's like the person is next to you in the car and when you have passengers in the car everyone is usually talking so there no difference if your on a hands free device then to me it's the same as if they are in the car. Texting should be 100% liable because you can watch the road of your looking at the phone and texting. My mum was a funeral director for 20 plus years. Apart from drink driving death, one of the repeat offenders in the deaths of children was them exiting a parked car on the road side, rather than waiting to be got out on the safer pavement (sidewalk) side. I wish people would pay attention more to this; I still see it now. Young, very young children, exiting on their own, the wrong side.

There is absolutely no way to prove or disprove a person's intentions in a court of law, and frankly, intentions have no place there. His actions speak for themselves. Clearly this... Person feels no remorse and his only guilty feelings are regret that he is in trouble at all. I find these sorts of people disgusting. I really hope I get to meet the man who did this. Even though this video was posted 1 year ago, I can only imagine the pain that this poor man (Zack) is still going through!!! The loss of a loved one is hard enough, but having lost his wife & unborn child in such an horrific manner is devastating!!! The fact that the defendant got off with the sentence he received is sickening & the jury needed to have their heads examined in not finding him guilty for the death of Zack's unborn daughter... that was a slap in the face saying that his daughter was not yet a person!!! To Zack & his family I say that if I was on that jury then the defendant would either be in prison for the remainder of his natural life or on death row for the murder of 2 lives lost because your unborn daughter was a person & given the fact that he was reckless by driving 85 miles an hour on the wrong side of the road... makes me sick!!! I was born at 34. It was something back in the day. My mother told me that the doctor fought like devils to keep me alive. That was 52 years ago, in what was called at the time Eastern Germany (DDR). I don't think I have any problem because of this. But my mother was very scared when it happened. Now I take care of my mother because I know I've got to live my life because of her persistence. We were struck at an almost stop by a drunk driver speeding behind us and luckily we weren't seriously injured but this, this right here is why we need to hold people accountable for shit like this. 10 years is nothing compared to the lives he wiped out in a matter of seconds.

Yes! I was at a stop and almost got hit yesterday. I was stuck with a car in front and a light and to the side. Speeding car was coming up at my left, never slowed down. Had to inch into bumpers.

It should be the death penalty, automatically! Drinking is a choice! If you know you're going to drink, either stay where you are or get another ride home! I think it's the same thing as Negligent Homicide. I cam guarantee you that if Negligent Homicide is the charge that they would face, the DUI related crashes, would stop real quick!

I also lost a daughter who was a passenger in the car with a drunk driver I truly agree I don't believe that drivers are being punished to the full extent this guy had three priors and only got a 1 to 15 years and Utah State Prison I truly feel your pain and may God bless you and your family

Which Justice system? This is a state by state issue, and around 40 states have fetal homicide laws. It’s possible this man lives in state that does not. But people definitely need to petition for those lawmakers in the states where they don’t have them.

Horrific tragedy to experience. Glad Zach shared about it and pictures from inside her coffin. A charismatic college friend, Heather Hanna, was killed by a likely drunk driver (Hit N' Run) while riding her bicycle home (with lights, helmet) in Bellingham, WA, after working in a bike repair shop. She was flung into the weeds and roadside scrub. She died of head trauma after several hours. Heather wasn't found till the next morning.

Dude your wife and daughter are proud of you for fighting for new laws so as you say their deaths have meaning, all drunk drivers need to be held accountable for everyone who dies because of their actions, your wife and daughter deserve that much. Omg I have said for years that drunk drivers punishments are too lax, and this proves it, when half their charges are dropped or they get a slap on the wrist it’s basically telling them it’s okay let’s go do this again, this is why we have people driving on our road ways now with numerous DUIs under their belts now. Such horrific story and this person should have been charged with both lives he took. So heart breaking😢😢, m thoughts and prayers go out to the husband and her remaining children my God give them strength each day and let’s all join together to help them in this fight for stiffer laws and punishments for intoxicated persons driving.
