L'Italien

In "L'Italien", Serge Reggiani tells the story of an Italian man returning home after 18 years of absence. The man knocks on the door and hopes to be let in. He explains that he has done many jobs, some legal and some not so much, including being a thief, a tightrope walker, a soldier, an actor, a poacher, an emperor, and a pianist. He has also known many women, but he admits that he's not very good at playing games with them. Although he has been through a lot, he dreams of finding a chair to rest on at home. The man expresses his exhaustion and vulnerability, hoping that the person inside will open the door and let him in.
The lyrics of "L'Italien" convey a sense of nostalgia, longing, and sorrow. The man has been away for so long that he wonders if anyone remembers him or if the dog who barks is the same as before. He reflects on the ups and downs of his life and the fact that time has passed him by. Reggiani's voice conveys the emotions of the character, bringing the lyrics to life. The song speaks to anyone who has been away from home for an extended period and desires to return to familiarity.

D'ici j'entends le chien

Merci Patty j'adore aussi bonne soirée
@perig79
