She spent all afternoon getting ready

By nine, the gospel music was still playing.

Group after group appeared on the stage
Multiple bands got on stage one after the other.

And Sally just sat there crying

Sally became disoriented when the authorities tried to control the audience.

The crowd back in a rage
The audience became angry due to the police intervention.

But soon the atmosphere was cooler
Shortly after, the crowd calmed down.

As Tommy gave a lesson
Tommy started to share his knowledge with the audience.

Sally just had to let him know she loved him
Sally had to disclose her feelings for him.

And leapt up on the rostrum
She quickly moved on to the stage to reach Tommy.

She ran cross stage to the spotlit figure
She ran across the stage to reach where Tommy was illuminated.

And touched him on the face
She touched him on his face with her hand.

Tommy whirled around as a uniformed man
As a uniformed man approached him, Tommy spun around quickly.

Threw her off the stage
The uniformed man then pushed Sally off the stage.

Her cheek hit a chair and blood trickled down
Sally's face slammed into a nearby chair, resulting in a wound, which caused her blood to trickle down.

Mingling with her tears
Her blood became mixed with her tears.

Tommy carried on preaching
Tommy continued to heal and teach his followers.

And his voice filled Sally's ears
Sally could still hear his voice despite being injured and ushered out of the venue.

She caught his eye, she had to try
She made eye contact with him and felt compelled to make another effort to express her affection.

But couldn't see through their lights
It was impossible for Sally to see due to the bright lighting.

Her face was gashed, and the ambulance men
Sally's face had a wound, and the paramedics had to attend to her.

Had to carry her out that night
They had to take her away from the venue that night.

Sixteen stitches put her right, and her dad said
She required sixteen stitches to heal her injury, and Mr. Simpson commented,

"Don't say I didn't warn you."
"I told you so."

Sally got married to a rock musician
Sally subsequently married a rock musician.

She met in California
She met him while in California.

Tommy always talks about the day
Tommy continues to discuss the occasion.

The followers became ecstatic.

Sally still carries a scar on her cheek
Sally still has a mark on her face from the injury.
