Everything is fine
I gave you everything you asked for
Don't be so unkind
Well every time you map out
Every little thing
It's too soon to pull out
I'm so ready
I'm not ready
This little boy is running right back home
I guess it's nobody's fault but my own
Never had the patience
Never had the time
Never knew that working hard
Was such a crime
Well I thought I could make you
Happy down the line
But I guess it's been over
Since you hurt this heart of mine
On your mark
Get set go
This little boy is running right back home
I guess it's nobody's fault but my own
Well I thought I could make you
Happy down the line
But I guess it's been over
Since you hurt this heart of mine
On your mark
Get set go
This little boy is running right back home
I guess it's nobody's fault but my own
The song "Nobody's Fault" by Phantom Planet is a melancholic tune about a relationship that has unfortunately come to an end. The feelings of regret, disappointment and sadness are conveyed through the lyrics and the tone of the singer's voice. The song starts with the singer acknowledging that everything is supposed to be okay and that they had given everything the other person asked for, urging them not to be so unkind. However, despite their efforts, the other person still decides to leave.
The second verse reveals some of the internal struggles the singer had during the relationship. They never had the patience nor the time to work hard enough on the relationship. They thought that they could make their partner happy in the future but now realize that their efforts were futile. The lines "On your mark, get set, go" suggest that the relationship ended before they even knew it had started. Despite the pain, the singer takes full responsibility and admits that it is nobody's fault but their own.
The song touches on the theme of heartbreak and regrets, but more importantly, it highlights the importance of introspection and self-accountability. It is a reminder that sometimes things don't work out the way we want them to, and it is important to be honest with ourselves and take responsibility.
