Pierce The Veil Lyrics

(But, there's just something about)
This dizzy dreamer and her bleeding little blue boy
Licking your fingers like you're done and,
You've decided there is so much more than me
And baby, honestly it's harder breathing next to you, I shake
I brought a gun and as the preacher tried to stop me
Hold my heart it's beating for you anyway
What if I can't forget you?
I'll burn your name into my throat
I'll be the fire that'll catch you
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
None of the colors ever light up anymore in this hole
Nobody prays for the heartless
Nobody gives another penny for the selfish
You're learning how to taste what you kill now
Don't mind me, I'm just reaching for your necklace
Talking to my mom about this little girl from Texas
What if I can't forget you?
I'll burn your name into my throat
I'll be the fire that'll catch you
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
None of the colors ever light up anymore in this hole
Just give her back to me
You know I can't afford the medicine that feeds what I need
So, baby, what if I can't forget you? (What if I can't forget you?)
Collide invisible lips like a shadow on the wall,
And just throw, oh no
You can't just throw me away
So, what if I can't forget you?
I'll burn your name into my throat
I'll be the fire that'll catch you
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
What if I don't even want to?
Oh,
Oh, oh
Oh
Oh, oh
Oh
Oh, oh
What if I can't forget you?
I'll burn your name into my throat
I'll be the fire that'll catch you
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
None of the colors ever light up anymore in this hole
Just give her back to me
You know I can't afford the medicine that feeds what I need
So, baby, what if I can't forget you? (What if I can't forget you?)
I'd better learn to live alone
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
What's so good about? What's so good about?
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
Oh
The lyrics to Pierce the Veil’s song “Caraphernelia” describe the pain and desperation of a failed relationship. The song is addressed to a former lover, who has moved on to someone new. The singer asserts that he will not let the new relationship “ruin my night”, but he is clearly struggling with the loss. The “dizzy dreamer and her bleeding little blue boy” seem to be the singer and his former partner respectively, and the image of the “blue boy” suggests a sense of vulnerability and sadness. The singer tries to convince himself that he can cope with the loss, but admits that it’s “harder breathing next to you”. He then reveals that he has brought a gun and is struggling with suicidal thoughts, holding his heart that still beats for his former love. Through the chorus, the singer repeats his desperate question, “what if I can’t forget you?”, and vows to be the fire that catches his former love.
The second verse contemplates the nature of selfishness and heartlessness, and discusses the singer’s fixation on his former partner compared to the lack of attention given to others. He refers to himself as “just reaching for your necklace”, implying a desire to hold onto some remnant of the relationship, but this is juxtaposed with his conversation with his mother about a girl from Texas, suggesting a sense of detachment and confusion. The final lines repeat the earlier question of how to “pick up the pieces” after a relationship has ended, and the repeated refrain of “just give her back to me” accentuates the sense of desperation and longing.
