All that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
All that you love
All that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
All that you deal
All that you buy
Beg, borrow or steal
All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say
All that you eat
And everyone you meet
All that you slight
And everyone you fight
All that is now
All that is gone
All that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon
Pink Floyd’s Tom Stoppard's song Eclipse is a poetic exploration of the duality that exists within every person's life and the interconnectedness of everything in the universe. The song begins by describing how everything that a person experiences through their senses -touch, sight, taste, feel, love, hate, distrust, and everything in between- comes together to create their reality. The next verses then go on to illustrate that everything a person does, including creating and destroying, and everything that they say and eat contributes to the world around them. Every person that they meet and every action they take is interconnected with everything else that is happening in the world. The song essentially suggests that everything is in tune and connected, except for the moment when the moon eclipses the sun.
The final line of the song, “But the sun is eclipsed by the moon,” is the key to understanding what the song is trying to convey. It means that while everything may be connected and in harmony, there will always be something that disrupts that harmony, something that interrupts the balance of nature, however temporary. This line brings to mind the idea of yin and yang -two opposing forces that, when combined, form a harmonious balance- but it also suggests that even that balance is temporary and that life is always changing. This theme ties in with the album as a whole which deals with themes of personal and societal change, individuality and humanity, and the passage of time.

Brilliant brilliant brilliant!
And then Pink Floyd eventually managed to make the next album "Wish You Were Here" an homage to Syd Barrett who was dropped from the band suffering severe mental health issues and the effects of drug abuse.
A beautiful album💖😉
