1) a band Ben Gibbard was in before Death Cab for Cutie
2) a band featuring Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne.
3) a Minneapolis hard rock band formed in 2008
1) In the Ben Gibbard version, Ben shared lead vocal duties with Justin Kennedy, who now fronts L.A. popsters Army Navy. The band sounds more like Built to Spill than it does Death Cab.
2) Adam and Chris, now of Fountains of Wayne, met at William College in 1986. They played in a series of bands together and sometime in the late 1980s/early 1990s recorded some demos as Pinwheel. Four songs from these recordings eventually became Fountains of Wayne songs; Troubled Times, I Know You Well, Imperia, and Half a Woman.
3) Minneapolis-based rockers Pinwheel have just released their first full length album "Reset" and there's a distinctly powerful sonic groundwork being laid - think the melodic veracity of Tool meeting the instrumental headiness of Nine Inch Nails. Call it industrial; call it prog-metal; call it what you will, but one thing is clear: the impressive chops summing Pinwheel's whole are an aggressive, boundary-testing aberration. The band's output is tightly-executed and atmospherically jarring, ideal for fans of electronic-tinged hard rock. Combine all that with a notoriously raucous live show, and you've got one of the Twin Cities' buzziest hard rock bands.

You've known me all along
I'll teach you how to function
After I am dead and gone
Inside new wheels are spinning
With lessons hardly learned
As you wait for your beginning
Don't think I will learn
This game is evolution
On this we can agree
Expect no retribution
As I lay under your feet
They say the times are changing
And so you'll have your way
Mistakes are all erasing
As you push me into flames
Push me into flames
They say the times are changing
And so you'll have your way
Mistakes are all erasing
As you push me, as you push me,
As you push me into flames
Pinwheel's song "Orgone" is a reflection on the complex and often challenging nature of relationships, and the idea that even after someone has passed away, their impact on our lives can continue to teach us valuable lessons. The first few lines suggest that there is no need for any formal introduction, as the singer feels that they have been known all along. However, they still have something valuable to teach, even after they are gone. The second verse highlights the idea that even as we move forward and try to learn from our mistakes, there are often new challenges and obstacles that arise, and sometimes we may feel like we are stuck in a cycle of repeating the same lessons over and over again. The final verse speaks to the idea that change is inevitable, but sometimes it is painful and difficult, and we may hurt the people closest to us in the process.
Overall, "Orgone" is a powerful meditation on the complexities of human relationships, and the ways in which we are all constantly learning, growing, and evolving. It is a reminder that even after someone has passed away, their legacy and influence can continue to shape our lives, and that it is up to us to learn the lessons they left behind and carry them forward.
