1) Pond is an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, formed in 2008. Initially featuring a revolving line-up, since 2016 the band has comprised
Jay Watson (also of Tame Impala), Nick Allbrook (ex-Tame Impala), Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland.
The original idea of Pond was to be able to get anyone they wanted to play whatever they wanted in a collaborative musical project. Their first album was released soon after in January 2009, titled Psychedelic Mango, which contained many psychedelic rock and pop elements. Their second album, Corridors of Blissterday, was completed live with an eight piece band in five days, and released in June 2009. This led to the creation of their 2010 album, Frond, released in May 2010, featuring a heavier pop influence than previously heard from them.
After the breakthrough success of Innerspeaker, the debut album by Tame Impala, a band which shares three members with Pond, the album Beard, Wives, Denim was recorded in 2010 and later released to critical acclaim in March 2012.

Mubby's Theme
Pond Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He's squirming out of the ground
Mubby stars in the last scene
Likes the way that he's drawn
Running over cartoon hills
Hums his musical theme
It goes...
We don't like the end
Cold white sea foam preserves him
Animals sing his name
Lays his eggs on the railroad
Mubby larva are born alone
The lyrics to Pond's song "Mubby's Theme" contain a sense of surrealism that may be challenging to interpret, but upon closer inspection, one can discern an underlying narrative. The song seems to be about a character named Mubby who emerges from the ground with a smile on his face. Mubby is depicted as a cartoon-like figure who is happy with the way he is drawn. He runs over hills and hums his musical theme. The lyrics then take a darker turn as it is revealed that Mubby's fate is to lay eggs on the railroad, and the larvae are born alone. The final scene depicts Mubby's preservation in sea foam, and his name being sung by animals.
