It's a sign of the times
Welcome to the final show
Hope you're wearing your best clothes
You can't bribe the door on your way to the sky
You look pretty good down here
But you ain't really good
We never learn, we've been here before
Why are we always stuck and running from
The bullets, the bullets?
We never learn, we've been here before
Why are we always stuck and running from
The bullets, the bullets?
Just stop your crying
It's a sign of the times
We gotta get away from here
We gotta get away from here
Just stop your crying
It'll be alright
They told me that the end is near
We gotta get away from here
Just stop your crying
Have the time of your life
Breaking through the atmosphere
And things are pretty good from here
Remember, everything will be alright
We can meet again somewhere
Somewhere far away from here
We never learn, we've been here before
Why are we always stuck and running from
The bullets, the bullets?
We never learn, we've been here before
Why are we always stuck and running from
The bullets, the bullets?
Just stop your crying
It's a sign of the times
We gotta get away from here
We gotta get away from here
Stop your crying
Baby, it'll be alright
They told me that the end is near
We gotta get away from here
We never learn, we've been here before
Why are we always stuck and running from
The bullets, the bullets?
We never learn, we've been here before
Why are we always stuck and running from
The bullets, the bullets?
We don't talk enough
We should open up
Before it's all too much
Will we ever learn?
We've been here before
It's just what we know
Stop your crying, baby
It's a sign of the times
We gotta get away
We got to get away
We got to get away
We got to get away
We got to get away
We got to—we got to—away
We got to—we got to—away
We got to—we got to—away
The song "Signs of the Times" by the British singer and songwriter, Harry Styles, talks about a world that is facing various problems such as war, poverty, and climate change. In the first verse, he encourages people to stop crying as the challenging times they are experiencing are signs of the times. He also talks about the final show, which can be interpreted as the end of the world. The second verse expresses the idea that no one can bribe their way into heaven, and the reference to bullets can be seen as a metaphor for any kind of danger.
Styles seems to be frustrated that humanity never learns from its past mistakes and is always running from the same dangers that have always existed. The chorus urges listeners to get away from that space and describes the world as an unsafe place. He repeats the verse, "We never learn, we've been here before, why are we always stuck and running from the bullets?", emphasizing his point that humanity never learns.
The bridge highlights the idea that humans need to open up to each other to avoid getting overwhelmed. He implies that people must communicate their feelings effectively to avoid feeling like the world is coming to an end. The song's message is simple; humanity needs to learn from its past mistakes if they want to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
