Mad World
QIWI- Michael Andrews Feat. Gary Jules Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head, I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world, mad world
Children waiting for the day, they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher, tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad world, mad world

Mad world
The song "Mad World" by Michael Andrews featuring Gary Jules, a cover of the original by Tears for Fears, can be interpreted in different ways, but generally it portrays a sense of despair, loneliness, and alienation in a world that is chaotic, meaningless, and indifferent to human suffering. The first verse describes the familiar faces and worn out places that lack purpose and direction, as people go through the motions of their daily routines without any sense of fulfillment or hope. The image of tears filling up their glasses suggests that these people are overwhelmed by their emotions but are unable to express them or connect with others who share similar feelings. The singer then reveals his own struggle with depression, expressing a desire to escape from his pain and find solace in his dreams, even if they involve his own death. The chorus highlights the irony and tragedy of this situation, as the madness of the world is both funny and sad, and the only way to navigate it is by running in circles, which only reinforces the sense of insanity.
The second verse shifts to the perspective of children, who are portrayed as innocent and vulnerable, but also conditioned to conform to society's expectations and suppress their individuality. The reference to "happy birthday" implies that even the celebration of life is subject to societal norms that may not reflect the inner experience of the child. The singer then shares his own experience of feeling like an outsider in school, where he was ignored and misunderstood by his peers and teachers. The request for guidance is met with indifference, as the teacher "looks right through" him, suggesting that he is invisible or insignificant. The chorus repeats with the same haunting melody and lyrics, emphasizing the universality of this feeling of madness and the need for empathy and connection.

Ive watched this so many times... Its so sad but happy at the same time. The kiwi bird gets to enjoy his last moments as he feels like he is flying. He spent years (probably) to nail all those trees there, and now he gets to feel what its like to fly. Its happy, but sad... He spends his last moments in love and happiness... I love that bird.
