Somebody To Love
Queen/George Micheal Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Ooh, each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
(Take a look at yourself)
Take a look in the mirror and cry (and cry)
Lord, what you're doing to me? (Yeah, yeah)
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just can't get no relief, Lord
Somebody (somebody), ooh, somebody (somebody)
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Yeah

I work hard (he works hard) every day of my life
I work 'til I ache my bones
At the end (at the end of the day)
I take home my hard earned pay (goes home)
All on my own (goes home on his own)
I get down (down) on my knees (knees)
And I start to pray (praise the Lord)
'Til the tears run down from my eyes
Lord, somebody (somebody), ooh, somebody
(Please) can anybody find me somebody to love?

(He works hard)
Every day (every day), I try and I try and I try
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I'm going crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
I got no common sense
(He's got) I got nobody left to believe in
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

(Ooh, Lord)
Ooh, somebody, ooh (somebody)
Anybody find me somebody to love?
(Can anybody find me someone to love)

Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat (you just keep losing and losing)
I'm okay, I'm alright (he's alright, he's alright)
I ain't gonna face no defeat (yeah, yeah)
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
One day (someday) I'm gonna be free, Lord

Find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love (find me)
Find me somebody to love (find me, find)
Find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love, love, love (ooh, find me, find me)
Find me somebody to love (somebody to love)
Find me somebody to love (ooh)
Somebody, somebody, somebody, somebody
Somebody find me
Somebody find me somebody to love
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
(Find me somebody to love)
Ooh
(Find me somebody to love)
Find me somebody, somebody (find me)
Somebody, somebody to love (somebody to love)
Find me, find me, find me, find me, find me
Ooh, somebody to love (find me somebody to love)
Ooh (find me somebody to love)
Find me, find me, find me somebody to love
Anybody, anywhere (find me)

Anybody, find me somebody to love, love, love, love, love (somebody to love)
Find me, find me, find me love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Queen/George Michael’s hit song Somebody to Love are about a longing for companionship and a desperate search for love. The song begins with the singer asking if anyone can find him somebody to love. He then proceeds to describe how he feels each day - that he is dying a little, can barely stand on his feet, and cries when he looks in the mirror. This is followed by the emotional plea for someone to love him, as he is tired of working hard every day and taking home his hard-earned pay all on his own.

He prays for someone to love, and even though he tries every day, people seem to want to put him down, saying he’s crazy and has no common sense. The song’s bridge emphasizes his rhythm-less existence and the singer’s desire to be free one day. The song ends with an emphatic plea - anybody, anywhere, find me somebody to love.

Overall, the song’s message is one of yearning for love and companionship, with the singer’s search for someone to love being nothing short of a heartfelt plea.

I think we need a tribute concert for George Michael.

@JG_SmileSOBright

Agreed!!! Maxwell would be a great choice!

@maryg4575

God, yes!

@PFCD

Sadly I don't think we'll ever get one because with the exception of a handful of singers they would butcher his songs because he had such a phenomenal voice. Adam Lambert and Rob Lamberti would pretty much have to do the whole tribute concert. That would be okay with me though!

@kevinfletcher5872

I gotta be honest...I'd love to see one, but who? Adam Lambert is a tribute to Fred as well as being great in his own right, George?? I'll give it some thought.

@PFCD

@greg acosta Did you ever hear George Michael tell the story how Michael Jackson disrespected him? He went to Neverland as Michael insisted George go there and they were going to discuss doing a single. He said after Michael made him STAND in the foyer for half an hour then Michael was sitting across from him on couches and Michael would not talk to him directly. He would talk to his manager and tell him to talk to Rob kahane to then talk to George. George said this guy is straight-up crazy, no amount of money is worth being disrespected in this way and I want nothing to do with him. It was either 87 or 88 George sold more records than Michael. I agree with your jealousy assessment. George could easily sing R&B pop and dance music, wrote his own songs and played on them and could dance. Strikingly gorgeous he was....defined as normal. Definitely things Michael Jackson wouldn't like.

Nobody can sing like Freddie Mercury, but George Michael is the best vocalist cover Queen has ever had. Brilliant performance
