Ariel
R.Blackmore Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I search for her in the dead of night
A silhouette lit by candle light
In a whispered word she is gone
Familiar stranger without a name
In a darkened room they all look the same
Like the sand of time she slips away so far away
In the mirror you can see her face
An angel dressed in the blackest lace
A sip of wine and the game can begin
Just an image lost in fantasy
Then you touch her and you can't break free
Till you see your fate written there in her eyes
Oh Ariel,

Lost in a distant dream, take me home
Ariel

Darker than Dark ❤️. Richie Blackmore X

@giustinoscalise3177

Ritchie at the top of his game. Went from playing old rock and roll with Jerry Lee Lewis to revolutionizing hard rock/heavy metal guiar playing. His influence is stamped on just about every famous lead guitarist in the genre. The arpeggios, the sweeping, the whammy dive bombs, the gallopinng e string riding, all the neo classcial stuff. When I discovered Ritchie Blackmore, I realized just how important Deep Purple and Rainbow were for all of the great metal bands i grew up listening to. I can remember the first time i heard "Highway Star". Blew my mind. I couldn't believe it came out in 1972. It sounded like a song from Metallica's first album, "Kill Em All" that came out in 1981, 11 years later. The organ solo sounded like Kirk Hammett's solo from "ride the lightning" 12 years later. That's just one song and one band...the list goes on and on. Ritchie Blackmore is a legend and it's a shame he doesn't get the proper recognition he deserves because he absolutley changed the game.

Ritchie doesn't need recognition..... He's got Candice.

Spot on assessment. You must be a guitar player.

@repetitivemotion

Even as an old rocker when he did this song Ritchie still hit a homerun with this song. It should have been a hit song, but of course the industry doesn't care about quality.
