Crow
Ralfe Band Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm going to carve your name on a dying maple tree I'm going to kiss your face and I'll throw you in the sea.
I don't know why you're lying there with a green fly on your face.
I'm going to carve your name on a dying maple tree I'm going to kiss your face and then I'll throw you in the sea.
The lyrics of Ralfe Band's song Crow are open to interpretation but one possible meaning is that the singer is addressing someone who has betrayed or wronged them. The line "I don't know why you're standing there chewing on that crow" can be seen as an expression of disbelief or disgust at the behavior of the other person. The chorus, "I'm going to carve your name on a dying maple tree, I'm going to kiss your face and I'll throw you in the sea," suggests a desire for revenge or retribution, but also a sense of closure or finality. The act of carving someone's name on a dying tree is a symbol of the impermanence of human existence, while the act of kissing their face before throwing them into the sea can be seen as a way of acknowledging their humanity despite their transgressions.
The second verse continues in a similar vein, with the image of a green fly on the person's face adding to the sense of decay and corruption. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the idea that the singer is determined to carry out their plan, regardless of the consequences. However, there is also a sense of resignation or sadness in the lyrics, as if the act of revenge is not enough to erase the pain and hurt that the other person has caused.
Overall, Ralfe Band's Crow is a haunting and enigmatic song that explores themes of betrayal, revenge, and mortality. The sparse instrumentation and mournful vocals create a sense of melancholy that is both beautiful and unsettling.
