I was focused on the corners of her eyes when she smiled. There are particular muscle groups controlled subconsciously when certain emotions manifest that cannot be emulated consciously suck as crinkling at the corners of the eyes when smiling/laughing. That’s the “dead eyes” people notices when such actions occur.

Sociopathy, as I understand it, is an emulation of actions with actual emotions so that a sociopath can sincerely smile. Whereas, a psychopath has a truncated ability to feel emotions forcing them to fit in by copying what they see without ever really feeling the emotions associated with those actions.

In short, sociopaths AND psychopaths will emulate certain actions, but psychopaths lack the subconscious triggers for a full emulation.

Just for shits and giggles, since nobody else looked it up, this is from an article in Psychology Today:

“Traits of a sociopath

Sociopaths are characterized by volatile behavioral patterns. These individuals often demonstrate emotional outbursts and a lack of self-control. Sociopaths can form attachments to other individuals and in general, enjoy being around other people although they have no regard for rules put in place by society. For individuals already genetically vulnerable to these behaviors, sociopathy is set in motion by specific environmental factors such as a troubled childhood, traumatic interpersonal relationships or a history of abuse.

Traits of a psychopath

In contrast to sociopathy, psychopathic behavior result more from genetics or congenital injury (such as a head injury at birth), than from environmental factors. Psychopaths are extremely manipulative and can easily gain other’s trust, however they do not form attachments to others. Individuals with psychopathic traits lack empathy and therefore feel no remorse when causing harm to another individual. Their actions are often preplanned and the crimes they commit are often highly organized and meticulous. Psychopaths are usually deemed more dangerous than sociopaths because they show no remorse for their actions due to their lack of empathy. Both of these character types are portrayed in individuals who meet the criteria for antisocial personality disorder.”

Just so that everyone understands, EMPATHY is one of the critical differences between sociopathy and psychopathy because to empathize, one must understand how an emotions feels which psychopaths find impossible.

Side note: some on the spectrum also do not understand emotions fully, so yes, I do not know, as an absolute fact, that this woman is a psychopath. However, I will point out that I have certain traits in common with a psychopath through intentional conditioning. I do not get emotional about many things that people today get emotional about. I’ve studied enough of the brain to understand what emotions are, what their purpose is, and when they are actually valid. One such discrepancy with society at large is the reluctance to be offended by language. It is not a natural response, nor is it a useful response to be upset when someone call you something you don’t like.

Words are processed in the Wernicke’s Area.
Concepts are processed throughout the cerebrum.
Emotions are processed in the limbic system.

For a word to have “power,” all three areas have to be connected which we colloquially call “LEARNING.” Don’t learn to be hurt by words and you won’t be hurt by words.

There’s plenty of free information about the brain and how it works, and I suggest everybody study it to have a better understanding of yourselves. The more you understand your brain, the more control you have over your mind. The more control you have over your mind, the less control others have over your mind.
