Grow
Red Roots Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm just a girl in a big old world
And people keep telling me
You've gotta sew your wild oats
‘Fore you know what you really wanna be
I hear ‘em now, I hear ‘em loud
And I'm gonna drown ‘em out

Cause I wanna grow where the Good Lord planted me
and I won't go nowhere unless I hear Him telling me to leave
I think He might know what's going on so I'll just let it be
I'm gonna grow where the Good Lord planted me

I'm just a girl in a big old world
Where people keep saying child
You can't stay the same to play this game
You're gonna have to change just to make it in this life
I hear ‘em now, I hear ‘em loud
And I'm gonna drown ‘em out

Cause I wanna grow where the Good Lord planted me
I won't go nowhere unless I hear Him telling me to leave
I think He might know what's going on so I'll just let it be
I'm gonna grow where the Good Lord planted me

I've been watered by His word
I've been nurtured by His hand
I've been sheltered by His wings
In this dry and thirsty land

I've been grounded in His love
I've been growing in His grace
I've been soaking up the light
light that's shining from His face

Why would I go away

Overall Meaning

from the place where God has brought me? These lyrics by Red Roots speak of a girl in a big old world. In this world, there are many voices that tell her that she needs to live wild and experience things before she can know who she wants to be. She hears these voices, but they don't resonate with her. Instead, she desires to stay where God has placed her, and she is willing to listen to his voice alone. The actions the girl takes, and her stance on life, come from a strong connection to Faith.

Throughout the lyrics, the girl reaffirms her commitment to her Faith by quoting that she wants to grow where the Good Lord has planted her. She won't leave where she is without hearing from God that it's time to go, knowing that God is aware of what's going on in her life. The girl reveals her confidence in God and the plan he has for her.

A few videos ago, I told you about how the floating plants in the Neon Tetra blackwater aquarium were not doing so well. I removed most of them in the hope that the remaining would bounce back....well I didn't expect this!!

I found the floating plants like very low flow. Duckweed will grow anywhere but frog bit in the floating red and most of the medium size floaters I have very fragile roots. They usually also need liquid fertilizer if you don’t have a heavy fish load, but I have two tanks and a small tank I have to pull stuff out and throw it away because I’ve got nowhere else to put it and I put a lot in my larger tank but it has more flow and it rips a lot of the roots off and the plants tend to bunch up and the ones around the edges getting exposure to more water flow usually die off, they reproduce enough to keep going but the large tank it’s never more than a quarter of the way filled small tank is half the size but I have to throw half of them away every couple months because they grow so fast but that take has only a tiny sponge filter and very very low flow, they both have the same lights in the same water composition so the only difference I can see is the water flow and I can tell him the big tank the roots break off in the smaller tank they will grow all the way to the groundStart to grab on to everything and route if I let them go through every few weeks and cut them all down to about 3 inches but I think flow is a primary factor in the floating plants with the thin roots
