Larry Stewart left Restless Heart in late 1991 after the group released the compilation "The Best of Restless Heart." The group then became a quartet and released "Big Iron Horses" in 1992 shortly after which Dave Innis left the group. The group released "Matters of the Heart" in 1994 before splitting up. In 1998, a reunited Restless Heart (minus Innis) recorded three new songs for a Greatest Hits album and then toured with Vince Gill for about a year.
In 2003, all five members reunited and recorded the album "Still Restless" for Koch Nashville in 2004. The record label closed in early 2005 leaving the group without a label. They are still touring and released a live album through their website in August 2007.

And go about life that way,
Their home is a long stretch
Of blacktop and everyday,
Is just another day,
They like movin' and stayin' on the run
And tryin' to make the world stand still
White lines and city limit signs
Rollin' down the highway what a fine time
That's the only way to feel
[[Chorus]
Wheels,
Stay under me,
Stay under me
Wheels,
Stay under me,
Stay under me
It's a freedom that we all want to know
And it's another sensual summer
To keep the world in your rear view mirror
While you try to run down the sun
It's a knowin' when you're
Gettin' where you're goin'
You never bear against your wheels
White lines and city limit signs
And life is like an automobile
Rollin' down the highway what a fine time
That's the only way to feel
[Chorus]
Wheels
Stay under me,
Stay under me
Wheels
Stay under me,
Stay under me
Wheels
I love to feel you turn
I love to feel you under me,
Wheels turn around
Round round like Geronimo
It's a code for livin' on the road
Try to make the world stand still
Rollin' down the highway
Rollin' down the highway
Oh
[Chorus]
Wheels
Stay under me,
Stay under me
Wheels
Stay under me,
Stay under me
Wheels
I love to feel you turn
I love to feel you under me
Wheels
Stay under me,
Stay under me
The song "Wheels" by Restless Heart displays a longing for freedom and adventure - the lifestyle of a nomad. The lyrics seem to embrace the idea that some people are born to live alone and keep moving. Their world is one of asphalt, the sound of engines, and the ever-changing scenery that rolls past their windows. These individuals don't stay in one place for too long because they want to see everything and experience all that life has to offer. By staying on the road, these travelers can feel their wheels turning and a sense of independence that they wouldn't get if they stood still.
The chorus of the song is the repeated phrase "Wheels, stay under me," which is both a plea and a demand. The wheels are an extension of the singer's being, and without them, he couldn't continue to explore and discover new places. The song becomes an ode to the mechanical components, an acknowledgment of their importance, and a symbol of the desire to keep moving forward, both literally and figuratively.
