Williams has received a record 18 Brit Awards, winning Best British Male Artist four times, Outstanding Contribution to Music twice, an Icon Award for his lasting impact on British culture, eight German ECHO Awards, and three MTV European Music Awards. In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted the Greatest Artist of the 1990s. According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), he has been certified for 20.2 million albums and 8.66 million singles in the UK as a solo artist. Five of his albums have also topped the Australian albums chart, and has sold 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He also topped the 2000–2010 UK airplay chart. His three concerts at Knebworth in 2003 drew over 375,000 people, the UK's biggest music event to that point. In 2014, he was awarded the freedom of his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent and had a tourist trail created and streets named in his honour. Williams' thirteenth album, XXV was released on 9 September 2022.
After 15 years, Williams rejoined Take That in 2010 to co-write and perform lead vocals on their album Progress, which became the second-fastest-selling album in UK chart history and the fastest-selling record of the century at the time. The subsequent stadium tour, which featured seven songs from Williams' solo career, became the biggest-selling concert in UK history when it sold 1.34 million tickets in less than 24 hours. In 2011, Take That frontman Gary Barlow confirmed that Williams had left the band for a second time to focus on his solo career, although he stated that the departure was amicable and that Williams was welcome to rejoin Take That in the future. Williams has since performed with Take That on three separate television appearances, and collaborated with Barlow on a number of projects such as the West End musical The Band.

I'm not ashamed to say that I am frightened
Hold me now, I used to heal like lightning
Are yours the last eyes that I'll ever see
Staring into me?
Was I just because
A mistake in love
Don't want a brand new life
This one's just right
Why would I throw it all away?
Won't you hold me now?
Just before I stop breathing
I know I promised I wouldn't leave here without you
Please, don't let me go
While they play the last song ever
The last chance to hold each other forever
Hold me now, I've still got words worth hearing
I just wanna be a human being
Hold me now, we all know what I'm fearing
I think I see the light, am I disappearing?
Was I just because
A mistake in love
Two people who stop trying enough
Don't want a brand new life
This one's just right
Why would I throw it all away?
Won't you hold me now?
Just before I stop breathing
I know I promised I wouldn't leave here without you
Please, don't let me go
While they play the last song ever
The last chance to hold each other forever
Won't you hold me now?
Just before I stop breathing
I know I promised I wouldn't leave here without you
Please, don't let me go
While they play the last song ever
The last chance to hold each other forever
Hold me now
Remember how we were at the beginning
David's Song by Robbie Williams is a heartbreaking yet beautiful ballad about a person facing their mortality and seeking comfort and reassurance from a loved one before passing away. The lyrics convey a sense of fear, vulnerability, and sadness as the singer finds themselves grappling with the possibility of death. In the first verse, the singer admits to feeling scared and asks to be held tightly by their loved one. They are uncertain whether they will make it out alive and wonder if the person before them will be the last person they see.
The chorus of the song reveals that the singer is questioning their life choices and whether they have made the right decisions in love. They ask themselves if ending a particular relationship the result of just being a mistake in love, or if they had given up too soon. They are seeking comfort and reassurance from their loved one, asking them to hold onto them as the last song plays, and to allow them to leave this world having had one last moment of comfort and love.
The second verse continues with the singer wondering if they are disappearing, seeing the light as they approach death. They remind their loved one that they are still worth being held and listened to despite their condition. They request to just be human for the last moments, without the weight of their circumstances.
In summary, David's Song by Robbie Williams is a poignant and emotional song about facing mortality and the desire for comfort and reassuring love. It's an invitation to cherish life's moments with loved ones and make the most of them.

Yeah. For me emotionally it really sounds like a song about true, pure male friendship, not gay party namely simple human friendship.

Discordo, embora respeite a opinião. Robbie tem muita música boa nesse meio tempo.

I agree with you, the start of the song and the instrumental at the end of the song are very similar to Angels. If he was famous as in the past this would be a great hit.
