The Revolution
Robby John & the Seven-Teens Lyrics

I been insecure on the low though
Tryna find an out, that’s a no no
Go and suck a dick, that’s low blow
There’s a fist in my stomach, I'mma no show
No time for no action, I’m anxious man
Just don’t get it twisted, no ampersand
Forever young, but you Peter Pan
Kill the child to be a man, ay
Happiness follows me but it’s illusive
I never give up, never chuck up the deuces
Not giving a fuck so you know I’m the truest
You dripping in ice so you think you the coolest
I’m spitting fire cos I’m from a higher place
I sleep in the fireplace
I vanish without trace
When you write my name, put it in uppercase
They calling me they forced to see
Like all of me I’m born to be
I’m born to lead I’m born to feed
I’m born to breed I’m torn in three
Assorted pieces off the leashes off the meds
And on the Jesus
Call the feds, and arm the teachers
All are dead, get high like tweeters
Then get low and burst the speakers
Shout so loud, it has the power to revert you leaders

I might start a revolution up in this bitch
Not because I have to but for the fun of it
There’s power in the masses
And controlling the public

I might start a revolution up in this bitch
Not because I have to but for the fun of it
There’s power in the masses
And controlling the public

Friend of me or public enemy
You bout to bend the knee or run away and flee
Like it’s a killing spree, nobody killing me
I plant a money tree, so I can have some shade
Who’s gonna save the day, we all have games to play
I’ll fucking sail away, you say the sky is Grey
This is the cape of storms...
We all trapped the day we born

I won’t get to close now I’m Icarus
Fall from the sky to a deep abyss
All of these visions, I see the bliss
But C'est La vie, such is life…

I won’t get to close now I’m Icarus
Fall from the sky to a deep abyss
All of these visions, I see the bliss
But C'est La vie, such is life

I might start a revolution up in this bitch
Not because I have to but for the fun of it
There’s power in the masses
And controlling the public

I might start a revolution up in this bitch
Not because I have to but for the fun of it

There’s power in the masses
And controlling the public

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Robby John & the Seven-Teens's song "The Revolution" are rich and deep, offering a reflection of the artist's thoughts on society and personal experiences. The song opens with the artist admitting to feelings of insecurity and the struggle of finding a way out of this state of mind. He rejects the suggestion of engaging in low-blow behaviors as a way out, which shows a sense of morality and self-awareness. However, he admits to feeling anxious, perhaps due to the pressure of trying to succeed and find fulfillment in life.

The artist acknowledges the paradox of the desire to remain forever young while also needing to grow up and become a man. He recognizes the need to kill the child within him to reach maturity. The artist also speaks of his evasive state of being happy, which seems to elude him even though he never gives up. He contrasts this with people who are more materialistic, claiming that they have an illusion of happiness because they are "dripping in ice" while he is spitting fire from a higher place.

The chorus of the song is an expression of the artist's potential to lead a revolution for fun rather than necessity. He recognizes the power of the public and the possibility of controlling it, a statement that alludes to the influence of social media and mass media in shaping people's opinions and beliefs. The final verses express the artist's fear of getting too close to his dreams, lest he falls like Icarus, as well as his sense of being trapped in life from the day of his birth.
