Throughout 2008, Plant and Krauss, along with Burnett, toured in support of the album. The tour was critically acclaimed.
On Feb. 8, 2009, Raising Sand took Album of the Year honors at the Grammy awards. In addition, the song "Please Read the Letter" (a Plant/Page composition) won Record of the Year, and Krauss and Plant nabbed a third award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.
According to Ken Irwin of Rounder Records, and producer Burnett, the duo started work on a second album in 2009. In a 2010 interview, Plant indicated that the follow-up sessions were unsuccessful. The follow up album to Raising Sand was finally released in November 2021.
Through The Morning Through The Night
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss Lyrics

I will try to understand
Believe me when I tell you
I could never kill a man
But to know that another man's holding you tight
Hurts me, little darling
Thru the morning thru the night
The bond has been broken
The promise you gave
The words that were spoken
I can not be your slave
But to know that the trust you had in me is gone
Hurts me, little darling
Through the nighttime through the dawn
I dreamed just last night you were there by my side
Your sweet loving tenderness
Easing my pride
But then I awoke and found you not there
It was just my old memory of how much I care
Believe me when I tell you
I will try to understand
Believe me when I tell you
I could never kill a man
But to know that another man's holding you tight
Hurts me little, darling
Through the morning through the night
The lyrics to Robert Plant's song "Through The Morning Through The Night" express the pain of a man who has lost the trust and affection of his lover. He wants to try to understand the situation and hopes that she can believe him when he tells her that he could never harm anyone. However, the fact that she is with someone new hurts him deeply, both day and night. He acknowledges that the bond between them is broken and that he cannot be her slave, but the loss of her trust is a constant source of pain.
The song speaks to the universal experience of heartbreak and the struggle to move on from a lost love. The singer is haunted by memories of their time together and dreams of being reunited with his love. However, he wakes up to the reality that she is gone and he must learn to live without her. The lyrics are simple yet powerful, conveying a deep sense of loss and longing that anyone who has experienced heartbreak can relate to.
Overall, "Through The Morning Through The Night" is a poignant and emotional song about love and loss. Its themes of trust, betrayal, and heartbreak are timeless and universal, and the lyrics are a testament to Robert Plant's skill as a songwriter.

Well said, I've loved her voice for over 20 years and I introduced my mom to her.

Written by an often overlooked musical genius (Gene Clark) and sung to perfection by the beautiful Alison Krauss. The harmonies created with Robert Plant only add to the sadness of the song's lyrics. What a masterpeice.

It was funny to hear this when it was released. This song was the title song to the second and last Dillard and Clark album that included the properly titled "Polly" (skip the Come Home part). Gene Clark founded the Byrds, but later devolved into alcohol abuse. He wrote some of the most haunting and beautiful songs imaginable.
I suspect T-bone Burnett helped select the two songs for this album. The arrangements are bravely reverent to the originals and space given to make them both sad and haunting.
Thank you for the heartfelt tribute to a neglected, legendary experiment in merging folk, bluegrass and country before it became the Eagles.
