I've been holdin' out so long
I've been sleepin' all alone
Lord, I miss you
I've been hanging on the phone
I've been sleeping all alone
I want to kiss you sometime
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Well, I've been haunted in my sleep
You've been starrin' in my dreams
Lord, I miss you, child
I've been waitin' in the hall
Been waitin' on your call
Your phone rings
It's just some friends of mine that say
"Hey, what's the matter, man?
We're gonna come around at twelve
With some Puerto Rican girls that's just dyin' to meet you
We're gonna bring a case of wine
Hey, let's go mess and fool around
You know, like we used to"
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah
Oh everybody waits so long
Oh baby, why you wait so long?
Won't you come on, come on
I've been walking Central Park
Singin' after dark
People think I'm crazy
Stumbling on my feet
Shuffling through the street
Asking people, "What's the matter with you, boy?"
Sometimes I want to say to, to myself
Sometimes I say
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
I won't miss you, child
I guess I'm lying to myself
It's just you and no one else
Lord, I won't miss you, child
You've just been blottin' out my mind
Foolin' on my time
No, I won't miss you, baby, yeah
Lord, I miss you child
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah
Lord, I miss you, child
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah
Lord, I miss you, child
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah aah
Aah aah aah aah

I'm 62 and I've been listening to the Stones since 1967 since I was 5.

My mom would tell me it was the Beatles and even at 5 I remember telling her it was the Rolling Stones, lol.

My youngest son started when he was 4 yrs old. Now he's 16 and we crank my Kenwood till the windows shake, not kidding either.

Seen the Stones on tour 23 times, 3 in Canada, 18 in the USA, 1 in Mexico, 1 South America.

My 24 with be in 2024 somewhere hopefully close to my hone in Canada 🇨🇦

Greatest Band on earth.

What is special about Miss You is the intriguing battle between the bass and the vocals. Mick sings with a longing but his calls are only grounded in the ethereal. He speaks to himself, to the ghost of her, to the fundamentally elusive realm where his yearning is answered.

While Mick is falling adrift, Bill’s bass grounds him and us back into reality. It is a bouncing, urgent beat that doesn’t have time for dreams. Whereas no girl exists to answer Mick’s call, the bass is in pressing dialogue - nudging, pushing, moving him.

Distinct from this tug of war but still present are, of course, the two guitars. They do not take sides with the bass or vocals. Rather, they are in love with each other: dancing and weaving together to create the kind of harmony that Mick can only envy.

If anything, the guitars have pity for Mick’s turbulence. And yet, the guitars, just like Keith himself, keep a distance. They know better than to dabble in the despair of another man’s love life. Keith, just like Bill, has his own tale to tell.

Miss You is not merely Mick’s story. It is the story of multiple characters who are simultaneously battling and understanding. But in the end, the winner is the listener. How can you not move to this song?
