A Girl In Trouble
Romeo Void Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She's got a face that shows that she knows she's heard every line
Tenderly she talks on the phone
There's a way to walk that says "stay away"
And a time to go around the long way

A girl in trouble is a temporary thing
(temporary, temporary, temporary, temporary)
A girl in trouble is a temporary thing
(temporary, temporary, temporary, temporary)

There's a time when every girl learns
To use her head
Tears will be saved
Till they're better spent
There's no time for her to be afraid
So instead
She takes care of business
Keeps a cool head

A girl in trouble is a temporary thing
(temporary, temporary, temporary, temporary)
A girl in trouble is a temporary thing
(temporary, temporary, temporary, temporary)

She's got a face that shows that she knows she's heard every line
Tenderly she talks on the phone
There's a way to walk that says "stay away"
And a time to go around the long way

A girl in trouble is a temporary thing
(temporary, temporary, temporary, temporary)
A girl in trouble is a temporary thing

(temporary, temporary, temporary, temporary)
A girl in trouble is a temporary thing

Overall Meaning

The song "A Girl in Trouble" by Romeo Void is a powerful reflection on the experience of a woman who is trying to navigate her way through the world in the face of constant harassment and unwanted advances. The opening lines of the song describe a woman who has clearly been through this before, and has learned to guard herself against it. Her face shows that she knows all the lines that have been used to try and pick her up, and she has developed a way of walking that signals to potential aggressors to keep their distance.

But even though she has learned to protect herself, the woman in the song is still vulnerable. There are times when she can't avoid the men who make her feel uncomfortable, and she is forced to deal with them directly. In these moments, she draws on her inner strength and resolves to take care of business and keep a cool head. The repeated refrain of "A girl in trouble is a temporary thing" serves as a reminder that even though she may be going through a difficult time, she will emerge from it stronger and more resilient than ever.

Overall, "A Girl in Trouble" is a powerful feminist statement on the experience of women in a world that often devalues and disrespects them. It acknowledges the challenges that women face in trying to assert their autonomy and agency, but also celebrates their strength and resilience in the face of adversity.

Sweet Jesus......that saxophone!! As soon as it starts! And her vocals are smooth yet raw. The 80's baby! No other decade like it for music.

Timinator

Yep, the 80's was the last Era of innovative music, we used old school stuff and cutting edge NEW stuff to change music forever... unfortunately the Music industry ruined everything.

Michael Roecker

Is a beautiful thing Mr.Trent.....All parts of this construct satisfy......Then the melody .....forget about it

Starfish Astrology

@Timinator there is still a lot of innovative music! You just have to look for it; it will never be on the radio

RyuKyuShogun

Everything Is Alright

This song is a timeless classic, 35 years since it was released, and it still sounds amazing.

Oh Man! how time flys. 35 years ago, I was working in a store called the Factory Clothing Store in Downtown Los Angeles. We had a Dj playing Alternative and Disco Music at the time. How I miss those days. My co-workers and I would hit the clubs in Hollywood after work. Now I am retired from an Auto and Home Insurance Co. in Orange County that I have been at for 22 years. 80's best decade ever. Melrose Ave. was happening at the time.

Romeo Void was one of my favorite 80s bands. Sounds so great even today! All hail the 80s!! 🎉🎉🎉
