All The Stars
Rose Cousins Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Do you look at these like I look to you
To be the one for me, do you see
All the stars through the trees
Fly the birds by and by
The reasons why, do you listen for
The pull of the wind as they swoop and soar
So many shine
How do you find
Me in all those lights
All the madness that you feel
Does it tire your heart like it tears at mine
Every time the horse and cart
All the madness
All the stars through the trees
Do you look at these like I look to you
To be the one for me, do you see
All the stars through the trees
The song "All The Stars" by Rose Cousins is a beautiful and melancholic ballad about unrequited love and longing. The singer is questioning whether the person they love sees and feels the same as they do. The song describes the beauty of the night sky and the flight of birds, asking if the person looks at these things the way they look at them. The singer is searching for a sign or confirmation that their love will be returned. The lyrics also speak of the madness of love, the way it can feel overwhelming and all-consuming. There is a sense of vulnerability and desperation in the song, as the singer pleads with their love to see them and acknowledge their feelings.
The use of imagery in the song is particularly striking. The stars shining through the trees and the birds flying in the sky are powerful metaphors for the vastness of the universe and the beauty of nature. The lyrics suggest that the singer wants their love to see them as a part of this grand design, to acknowledge their small but significant place in the world. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the singer's desire for confirmation and the hope that their love will see them in the same way they see the stars.
Overall, "All The Stars" is a poignant and introspective song that speaks to the uncertainty and vulnerability of love. The imagery and metaphors used in the lyrics create a dreamy and romantic atmosphere that is both beautiful and haunting.

This is one of my favorite songs on Rose's new album. What a wonderful job filming and choosing the location, the fading light over the river and the light from the lamps above the bridge were beautiful. Captured the mood of the song and the intimacy between Rose and Jennah's performance perfectly.
