But let me tell ya, it's better than diggin' a ditch
There ain't no tellin' who you might meet
A movie star or maybe even a Indian Chief
(Workin')
At the car wash
Workin' at the car wash, girl
(Car wash)
Sing it with the feelin' ya'll
(Car wash, girl)
Some of the work gets kinda hard
This ain't no place to be, if you planned on bein' a star
Let me tell you it's always cool
And the boss don't mind sometimes, if ya act the fool
At the car wash
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Talkin' about the car wash, girl
Come on ya'll and sing it for me
(Car wash)
Ooh, ooh, ooh
(Car wash, girl)
(Work and work)
Well, those cars never seem to stop coming
(Work and work)
Keep those rags and machines humming
(Work and work)
My fingers to the bone
(Work)
Can't wait till it's time to go home
(Hey, get your car washed today)
Fill up and you don't have to pay
Come on and give us a play
(Do the wash, right away)
(Car wash)
Talkin' 'bout the car wash
Car wash, girl
Come on ya'll, let's sing it with me
(Car wash)
Sing it with feelin', ya'll
(Car wash, girl)
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
(Car wash)
Never seem to stop comin'
What'd I say?
Keep those rags and machines hummin'
The song "Car Wash" by Rose Royce is about the daily grind of working at a car wash. The lyrics reveal that while it may not be the most glamorous job in the world, it is a way to make a living and potentially meet interesting people. The chorus repeats and invites listeners to sing along enthusiastically, creating a fun and lively tune.
The opening lines of "Car Wash" celebrate the simple fact that earning a living, even if itβs not a substantial wage, is better than not earning anything or digging a ditch. Itβs clear that a car wash worker can have any number of experiences, from cleaning the cars of everyday people to meeting movie stars or even chiefs of Native American tribes, which suggests that one of the perks of the job is that it is relatively unpredictable. Throughout the song the singer(s) reflect on the challenges of working at the car wash, including that it can be physically taxing and isn't ideal for aspiring stars. Despite this, the singer(s) feel it is cool to work there and that the boss doesn't mind if the employees take the opportunity to engage in some light-hearted antics while at work. The repeated line βwork and work," highlights the repetitive nature of the job, while the description of fingers being worked until the bone, accentuates the physical labour required. The final verses underscore the hope that customers will come for a wash, alleviating the monotony of the continuous stream of cars arriving at the car wash.

@@leonardbrown2219, Even more when you do dance moves that replicate working at a car wash. Wax on, wax off.
Don't know how many calories I burned (probably minimal) but it and "Boogie Wonderland" got me moving today. Nice to finally get some Sunday spring sun in Australia and dance in the backyard.
