"Strings Of Fire are like metal on prozac"
And since their first gig in August of 2004, that same energy has never left the four young metallers from Essex. They hail from Havering, south-east London and have played in many places around the area, including Upstairs & Downstairs at The Garage, Grays Civic Hall, The Twist The Cauliflower and have sold out MusicTek in Dagenham multiple times.
Strings of Fire, or S.O.F. are a four piece band, comprising of 20 year old lead vocalist and guitarist Jack Sherriff, whose raw vocals have developed to such a style that lets him hit the highest of notes, whilst still maintaining true power and aggression. Along with Jack, the songs are predominantly written and composed by lead guitarist Andy Feehan, also 20. His varied influences in music are the main drive behind the eclectic mix of sounds heard in S.O.F.'s songs. On bass guitar is Andy 'Ducky' Graves, whose funk orientated rhythms and melodies add a vibe rarely heard in a genre like this. Behind the kit is James Foale, utilising new-school double bass mixed with the catchy rock beats of old, and adding colour to the songs with vocal harmonies and electronics.
The band have spent the best part of two years trying to define a sound that suits them most, and are all comfortable in producing. After a short break in the summer of '06, they re-grouped with new fire and understanding and the music just kept on coming. Settling on a rock-based feel with the odd bit of metal chucked in, S.O.F. create an energetic wall of catchy tunes that whilst easy to bang your head to, allow the audience to sing along at the top of their lungs to inspiring chorus' and quick verses. Taking influence from such legendary bands as Iron Maiden and Metallica, they are set on creating a new sound, but try to maintain the fundamental features that made the said bands so popular.
In April 2006 the band recorded their E.P. 'Alive at Last', featuring songs such as 'Blood is the Sweetest Revenge', 'Bruised and Broken' and S.O.F.'s first independently released single, 'Exhale', is now available on iTunes.
Strings of Fire are looking to roll into 2007 with the same creativity, fire and energetic live show as the previous year, and the future will hopefully hold good things. The year has already treated them well being put onto the Back To Business album "Get A Grip" out in may, recording their brand new E.P "Another Day Begins", playing the 15,000 people capacity Dagenham Festival, and the highlight so far, becoming Havering Rock Band of the Year in May.
EXHALE
S.O.F (Strings Of Fire) Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I don't love you anymore
And I have to let you know
I don't miss you anymore
And it's time to close the door
In these opening lines of the song "Exhale" by S.O.F (Strings Of Fire), the singer is expressing a painful realization that they no longer love the person they are addressing. This declaration is repeated for emphasis, highlighting the finality and certainty of the decision. The repetition of "I don't love you anymore" serves as a cathartic release of pent-up emotions, a way for the singer to vocalize their feelings and come to terms with their change in heart. The blunt honesty in these lyrics adds a raw and vulnerable layer to the song's emotional depth, as the singer grapples with the difficult truth that their love for this person has faded.
The next lines, "And I have to let you know, I don't miss you anymore," further underscore the singer's emotional journey towards letting go. By explicitly stating that they no longer miss the person, the singer is acknowledging a significant shift in their feelings and indicating a desire for closure. The use of the word "have" suggests a sense of obligation or duty to communicate this newfound emotional state, showing a willingness to confront the reality of the situation. The repetition of this sentiment reinforces the finality of the decision and signals a pivotal moment in the singer's emotional growth and recovery.
Following this admission of no longer loving or missing the person, the line "And it's time to close the door" serves as a poignant conclusion to the emotional arc of the song. This metaphorical imagery of closing a door symbolizes the singer's need to move on and leave the past behind. By framing this decision as a necessary action and using a visual symbol of closure, the singer conveys a sense of resolution and acceptance. The finality of this line signals a new chapter beginning for the singer, one that involves letting go of the past and embracing a future without this person.
Overall, these lyrics convey a powerful message of emotional growth and self-realization. Through honest and direct language, the singer shares their internal struggle with letting go of a past love and the process of finding closure. The repetition of key phrases throughout the lyrics emphasizes the weight of the singer's decision and the importance of acknowledging and accepting their changed feelings. As the song unfolds, the listener is taken on a journey of introspection and transformation, witnessing the singer's journey towards healing and moving forward from a past relationship.

This woman's voice is like velvet. People always speak of her belting power, but that rich crystal clear tone is the crowning glory of her voice.

That rich crystal tone in her voice is the greatest sound I've ever heard. Whitney Houston's 1980s voice is the greatest voice in the history of Western popular music. Of course Whitney's post-1992 voice is wonderful and strong, but her voice changed after having a baby. Celine Dion's voice changed considerably too, a year after her son's birth.

I’ve always struggled to describe her voice. I’ve always just called it a voice like glass but velvet works too. Her head voice is like nothing I’ve ever heard, not that she’s always hitting outrageous notes but just something about it is otherworldly. RIP Queen.

@@jakestroll6518I'll describe it for you. Rich, warm, and smooth like honey. Not even butter... honey. This song showcases her tone. No signature power vocals...just the tone. Unmatched by any singer.. past, present, and probably future. Her head voice is also unsurpassed but that tone is heaven.
