The Force
S.O.V. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The night sky is as clear as
Your name written on my arm in scabs
You told me someone else had shared your bed
The next day I woke up dead
The autopsy results said blunt force trauma
Reminds me that I’m yours and
No one can take me away from your
Twisted sense of love and care
The autopsy results said blunt force trauma
Reminds me that I’m yours and
No one can take me away from your
Twisted sense of love and care
My fractured skull and blood-loss
Your affection and the lives that it cost
There’s nothing like your lack of remorse
Your undying love is shown through blunt force
The autopsy results said blunt force trauma
Reminds me that I’m yours and
No one can take me away from your
Twisted sense of love and care
The autopsy results said blunt force trauma
Reminds me that I’m yours and
No one can take me away from your
Twisted sense of love and care
In your twisted world, I’m your slave
The autopsy results said blunt force trauma
Reminds me that I’m yours and
No one can take me away from your
Twisted sense of love and care
The autopsy results said blunt force trauma
Reminds me that I’ll never get away
Please release me from your
Sickening sense of love and pain
And though I now walk with the shadows
Remember me for what I never was

Pretend we were happy and I loved your
Twisted sense of love and care

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of S.O.V.'s song "The Force" depict a disturbing narrative of a victim trapped in a violent and abusive relationship. The imagery of the night sky serves as an eerie and ironic backdrop, juxtaposed against the brutal reality of the singer's fractured skull and blood loss. The reference to the victim's name written on the arm in scabs suggests a self-harm coping mechanism, further emphasizing the destructive nature of the relationship.

The victim's realization that "someone else had shared [their] bed" and the subsequent autopsy results of "blunt force trauma" indicate that the abuser was physically violent towards them, leading to their death. Despite the clear evidence of abuse and murder, the victim's twisted sense of loyalty and devotion to their abuser is apparent in the repetition of the lines "Reminds me that I'm yours and / No one can take me away from your / Twisted sense of love and care."

The final verses add a poignant layer of tragedy to the narrative, as the victim hopes to be remembered by their abuser as someone who loved their "twisted sense of love and care," rather than acknowledging the reality of the abuse they suffered.

Overall, "The Force" is a haunting portrayal of the complexities and dangers of abusive relationships, highlighting the disturbing power dynamics that can trap victims in cycles of violence and loyalty.

Vanu

As a titan main from year one he will always be my vanguard. Lance may you always walk in the travelers light....

TheGeckoGamer

I think the whole thing where he pretty much doesn't hesitate to get crow up reflects his absolute trust in the traveller.

Bryon Youngblood

Yeah, and Zavala seeing Crow isn't Uldren, and shouldn't be judged by who he was in the past, but who he is in the present, and the faith the Traveler chose him to be a Guardian for a reason and how Crow didn't hesitate at all to save him.

David Os

@Ogrimmygrimgrim I mean savathun saved its ass so there is that

Éfar Isti

The dude took a blow to protect him, freed his ghost and has been chosen by the Traveler. I think Zavala can make logical conclusions.

Ted Schaeffer

Nah dude. Zavala has been at this long enough to be able to acknowledge that a Risen is a new person. He may see Uldren, but he knows it’s Crow.

This is one of the best cutscenes to come from any Destiny season, the fact that Caital just slams that psion into the ground and demands that she get her hands on the one who shot his ghost only leaves it up to the imagine nation as to what she’s going to do to that psion
