Overall Meaning

Everyone disliking Asap Rocky in this song makes it so much better. Seriously makes me love it even more. The lyrics go together so well if you bother to read them and hearing such two different people on the same track makes it special. So while I might not be a huge ASAP fan, I'm definitely a huge fan of him on this song. Flawless.

did you heard the new song of selena gomez? they released the first version of the song with asap rocky and his part is just amazing! a couple days later, they release the video ( today ) and he is not in the song / video... the song is just boring without him. I think people don't really realize just how talented A$AP Rocky is. His skill as a rapper and as a musician generally gets lost behind the gold teeth and the french braids and the fact that he blew up around the same time as Kendrick Lamar, but honestly I think Rocky is perhaps the most versatile rapper in the game right now.

With that said, I'm not really sure Rocky actually adds anything to the song. The beat complements his flow perfectly, but he's not really adding anything to the song. He's basically just saying what Sam Smith said, only rappier. It doesn't ruin the song or anything, but it doesn't elevate it either. Its about as good as the original.

While I enjoy both versions of the song, I enjoy them for different reasons. The original is more simple and highlights the piano and Smith more, but I enjoy how in this version A$AP Rocky tells the different side of the story (tells cheater's side of the story). I like this approach. The rap verses in this version were not put there to simply give the song more of a "rap-ish" feel or appeal, but more to help tell a story.

I don't understand why no one like rapping. It's just as hard as singing (which is why a lot of people aren't good at it) and it's even harder if you want it to mean something. I would like to see the people bashing it make a rap verse so that they can see how difficult it is to make it sound good and be meaningful.

Popular rappers like lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, who are classified as rappers whether you like it or not, are the reason people hate it.
