Lyrics building up, while I’m filling up these floppy disks
Writing multiple songs and saving them onto multiple floppy disks.

These young faces spit lines, they flip rhymes in quick time
Watching and admiring young artists perform at open mics with impressive rhymes and quick delivery.

From paper to the label where they’re favoring to get signed
Young artists hoping to go from writing songs on paper to getting signed by a record label.

You know, at open mics I'd roll the dice
Taking chances by performing at open mics to showcase talent.

So enticed by the glowing lights and flows that I'd go home and write
Inspired by the energy and talent at open mics, causing the artist to write more songs.

Focused right, sharp as a Bowie knife
Being fully focused and sharp with songwriting abilities.

With a record label dream becoming my only goal in life
Dreaming of being signed to a record label and making it the sole focus of life.

Envisioned how success will feel, like opening the seventh seal
Imagining the feeling of success as something grand and life-changing, like opening an ancient seal.

Everything is better, I’d be settled with a record deal
Believing that life would be improved and stable with a record deal.

Thinking how to measure real, hadn’t fully mastered yet
Contemplating how to define and measure success but not yet fully understanding it.

Realized the most important factor was my happiness
Recognizing that personal happiness was the most important factor in achieving success.

And soon there came a time where that exited my mind
Forgetting about personal happiness and losing sight of what was really important.

When I noticed no success had come from stories like mine
Realizing that success was not guaranteed, even with great talent and hard work.

I decide, finally I think I know what's best for my life
Deciding to take control of one's own life and prioritize personal happiness.

Not the limelight; just making something that I'd like
Choosing creative satisfaction over fame and fortune.

Now I travel every week and get to live my dreams out
Living a dream of traveling and performing, thanks to hard work and dedication.

Doing what I used to dream ‘bout
Achieving a dream that was once just a hopeful thought.

Took an unconventional path to get to the math
Taking a non-traditional route to achieve success.

Learned that when you try force, you can always find that link to the past (yeah)
Figuring out that forcing things does not always work and that sometimes the answer lies in past experiences or connections.

Practical exposure had the value understood
Gaining hands-on experience helped in understanding the value of different opportunities.

To minimize the bad times and maximize the good
Trying to reduce the number of negative experiences and increase positive ones.

Fortunate to add mine, befriending all opponents
Feeling lucky to have been a part of the journey and becoming friends with former competitors.

With gratitude, I’m thankful and I’m loving every moment
Feeling grateful for the successes and cherishing every moment.

Even when I faced doubt, never took the safe route
Despite uncertainty and doubt, taking risks and choosing to not settle for the easy option.

Thankful to anyone who let us turn the place out
Being grateful to anyone who helped in creating memorable performances.

Continue bringing it to anyone who wanna listen
Continuing to share music with anyone who wants to listen.

Forever focused, I got tunnel vision
Remaining constantly focused and having a clear vision of goals.

Never looking back, cover tracks, with the future still ahead
Moving forward and not dwelling on the past, while aiming for future success.

Rushing towards the finish line like in the game 'Left 4 Dead'.

Successful, a varied phrase, many people quote it
Defining success can be different from person to person.

Define and then refine it, then that’s the way you own it
Developing a personal definition of success and refining it until it becomes truly one's own.

Finally reminded all the times and all the moments
Reflecting on past experiences and moments that led to current success.

Play it in my mind ‘til I rewind it and reload it
Replaying memories of success in one's mind, savoring the achievement.

Hold it, like someone near and dear, steering clear of all the nonsense
Holding onto the feeling of success like a treasured memory, while avoiding negativity.

Struggle is necessary for progress
Acknowledging that obstacles and difficulties are necessary for achieving progress.

Makes the night colder, for an indie mic holder
Being an independent artist means working hard, even when times are tough.

But if I’d had a choice I'd do the same twice over
Despite the struggles, choosing to pursue music again, with no regrets.

Which to say, is we aim for no regrets
Striving to live a life without regrets.

Might have missed a couple steps, but we always give our best
Admitting to making mistakes, but always trying one's best.

Mind racing, life changing, did it to the death
Pursuing a passion with intense dedication, even when challenging or life-changing.

Fitting that we’re winning, ‘cause the mission is success
The artist is successful because success was the mission all along.

And when I'm done, my friends will exceed my wealth
Real wealth comes from having supportive friends and relationships.

I paid dues ‘til it hurt, still believe I'm felt
Sacrificing and working hard for success, but still feeling a sense of fulfillment.

Yet I always lent a hand to those who need my help
Being helpful and generous to others, even while pursuing personal goals and success.

But I was never more fulfilled than when I pleased myself
