Stand to Fall
SOiL Lyrics

The light never shined off you
And then again my friend it's always
Been you through and through
Your one...if you choose
Maybe two..still I lose
Take a look and see
Inside this prison called me
Scream aloud what you see
Turn me around again
My friend, my friend
If you see the fires burning my hands
[PRE-CHORUS]
I won't fly...cause when I reach the sky
I come tumbling down again
And I ....no I won't hide
I won't crawl to walk, to stand and fall again
So simple all the while
Way too simple for you
Tell me what to do
Do you want me to be like you
Build me up again
Stand me up to knock me down
I've made it this far with just a little taste of sin
[PRE-CHORUS]
[CHORUS]
In "Stand to Fall," SOiL talks about someone who has been catering to perfection and yet is never truly appreciated for their efforts. The writer is reflecting on how their friend has always been genuine and true to themselves but has never been given the recognition they deserve. The lyrics suggest that the singer sees their friend as someone who is crippled by their own fears and doubts, living in a prison of their own making.
The writer talks about screaming out to reveal the true nature of this burdened person, trying to turn them around and help them see the light. But despite their efforts, the friend continues to burn with fires of their own making. The writer recognizes that their own struggles have been difficult as well, but they refuse to give up on themselves. They want to stand and fall, to keep moving forward despite the challenges.
The chorus of "Stand to Fall" talks about the writer's determination to keep going, no matter what obstacles they face. They refuse to hide or crawl, insisting that they will stand and fall again. The writer wants the listener to recognize that the journey is not easy, but it is worthwhile.
