Pulse
Safehouse Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Everything is okay
Remembering your smile
There was nothing I can hide
Shadowing your movement
Very quietly
I can't loose this feeling
It won't be the same
Walking out the door
Moving into silence
Made me desire more
Auburn is the color
That will stay close to my side
Will you please remember
That I wanted it alive
In Safehouse's song "Pulse," the lyrics convey a sense of longing and nostalgia for a past connection. The opening lines, "When there is nobody, everything is okay," suggest that when the singer is alone, they are content and at peace. However, the mention of "remembering your smile" indicates that this feeling changes when thoughts of someone else come to mind. The next lines, "There was nothing I can hide, shadowing your movement very quietly," suggest that the singer was deeply affected by this person's presence and tried to observe them discreetly.
The lyrics continue to express the singer's inability to let go of these emotions, stating, "I can't lose this feeling, it won't be the same." There is a sense of restlessness and anticipation in lines such as "Waiting for an answer, walking out the door, moving into silence, made me desire more." These lines imply that the singer is waiting for a response or closure, but instead, they find themselves drawn further into their longing.
The mention of the color "Auburn" is symbolic, possibly representing warmth, comfort, or a significant memory. The lyrics ask the recipient to remember that the singer wanted their connection to be alive. Overall, "Pulse" portrays the bittersweet longing for a past relationship and the lingering desire for that connection to remain.
