Gimme Some Lovin'
Sam Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Crazy people rocking 'cause they want to go more
Let me in baby I don't know what you got
But you better take it easy 'cause this place is hot
And I'm so glad you made it, so glad you made it
You got to gimme some lovin', gimme gimme some lovin'
Well I feel so good, everybody's getting high
Been a hard day and I don't know what to do
Wait a minute Baby, this could happen to you
Well I feel so good, everybody's getting high
You better take it easy 'cause the place is on fire
Been a hard day nothing went too good
Now we're gonna relax just like everybody should
The lyrics of "Gimme Some Lovin'" by Sam & Dave reflects the lively atmosphere of a club where the temperature is rising, and people are dancing crazily because they want to enjoy and have some more. The singer is trying to get into the club and tells the lover to take it easy as the place is hot. He is happy to have made it and needs some loving. The energetic tone of the song creates a frenzy atmosphere of a party where everyone is trying to have a good time.
In the second verse, the singer feels good, and everyone is getting high, and he asks the lover to take it easy as the place is on fire. The hectic day has taken a toll on him, and he doesn't seem to know what to do. He tells the lover to wait as the same could happen to her as well. At the end of the verse, he clearly states how everyone is getting high and tells the lover to relax.
The song's lyrics reveal the singer's desire to have a good time, and the pace and tone of the song creates an atmosphere of a wild party where people dance their hearts out, and everything is chaotic.

This song is great by just about everyone that does it. Wish someone was still writing like this. Maybe Beiber or LL Cool J?

I have never heard this version before, its actually very good. I liked Sam & Dave but to me the best version is Traffic recorded live at Croydon Fairfield Hall. I still remember the first time and day I heard that version.

Everybody sang this song in the 60's. It's not very well suited to S & D's style, but I could listen to them sing the phone book.
