This person is willing to do anything to feel something, even touch the fire that will freeze them but still want to experience the sensation. The last line of the song "Where do we go from here?" suggests that there is no clear direction for this person after experiencing all these feelings. Is this the end or the beginning of a new journey?

I've experienced so much pain and disappointment in the past that it feels like a part of me has died.

Despite my emotional numbness, I believe that someone else can awaken my feelings and bring me back to life.

I think he has had a rough few years and a bad childhood from being molested.
