LIKE A FLOWER'S GOT A FIELD|AND A CLOUD'S GOT THE RAIN|LIKE A NIGHT HAS GOT THE STARS|A FIRE'S GOT A FLAME||LIKE THE MOON HAS GOT THE TIDE|THE RIVER'S GOT THE SEA|I GOT YOU AND YOU'VE GOT ME||OH OH|SOME THINGS ARE GUARANTEED|OH OH|SOME THINGS WILL ALWAYS BE|YEAH, I'VE GOT YOU AND YOU'VE GOT ME||LIKE A SINGER'S GOT A SONG|AND A SONG HAS GOT A RHYME|LIKE I KNOW YOU'VE GOT A SMILE|WHEN I CAN'T GET TO MINE||LIKE EVERY SOUL HAS GOT A HEART|A HEART'S GOT A BEAT|I GOT YOU AND YOU'VE GOT ME'||REPEAT CHORUS

Overall Meaning

In these lyrics from the song "I've Got a Feeling," the singer uses vivid and poetic imagery to convey the deep connection and bond between two individuals. The lyrics compare the relationship between the singer and their significant other to the natural elements and phenomena that complement and rely on each other. The mention of a flower having a field, a cloud having rain, and a night having stars reflects the idea of two entities being intertwined and dependent on each other for their existence and purpose. This imagery sets the tone for the song and establishes the theme of a strong, unbreakable connection between the singer and their loved one.

The lyrics also emphasize the certainty and steadfastness of the bond between the two individuals. The repetition of "I've got you and you've got me" in the chorus highlights the mutual trust and support in the relationship, suggesting that no matter what challenges or obstacles come their way, they will always have each other to lean on. This message of reliability and dependability adds a sense of security and comfort to the lyrics, reinforcing the idea that some things in life are guaranteed and unchanging, such as the love shared between the singer and their partner.

The comparison between a singer having a song and a song having a rhyme further reinforces the idea of a deep and intrinsic connection between the singer and their loved one. The mention of a smile that the partner has when the singer cannot find theirs showcases the mutual understanding and complementary nature of their relationship. The references to a soul having a heart and a heart having a beat evoke the idea of the interconnectedness of emotions and the shared rhythms of life, emphasizing the unity and symbiosis between the two individuals.

Overall, these lyrics celebrate the enduring and unshakable bond between two people, highlighting the beauty and strength of a relationship built on trust, love, and mutual support. The imagery of nature and music used throughout the song serves to enhance the emotional depth of the lyrics and convey the profound connection between the singer and their partner. LYRICS!

GILES:
I've got a theory
That it's a demon
A dancing demon!
No, something isn't right there.

WILLOW:
I've got a theory
Some kid is dreaming
And we're all stuck inside his wacky Broadway nightmare

XANDER:
I've got a theory
We should work this out

ANYA, TARA, WILLOW, AND XANDER:
It's getting eerie
What's this cheery singing all about?

XANDER:
It could be witches!
Some evil witches!
Which is ridiculous
'cause witches they were persecuted
and Wicca good and love the earth and woman power
and I'll be over here.

ANYA:
I've got a theory!
It could be bunnies!

(Silence. Crickets chirping.)

TARA:
I've got a—

ANYA (belting):
Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes!
They've got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses!
And what's with all the carrots?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?
Bunnies!
Bunnies!
It must be bunnies!
(Pyrotechnics.)
...Or maybe midgets.

WILLOW:
I've got a theory we should work this fast—

WILLOW AND GILES:
Because it clearly could get serious before it's passed.

BUFFY:
I've got a theory
It doesn't matter...
What can't we face if we're together?
What's in this place that we can't weather?
Apocalypse?
We've all been there
The same old trips
Why should we care?

BUFFY, ANYA, GILES, TARA, WILLOW, AND XANDER:
What can't we do if we get in it?
We'll work it through within a minute
We have to try
We'll pay the price
It's do or die

BUFFY:
Hey, I've died twice.

(Giles lyrics are echoing the others' lyrics.)
BUFFY, ANYA, TARA, WILLOW, AND XANDER:
What can't we face if we're together?

GILES:
What can't we face?

BUFFY, ANYA, TARA, WILLOW, AND XANDER:
What's in this place we can't weather?

GILES:
If we're together...

BUFFY, ANYA, TARA, WILLOW, AND XANDER:
There's nothing we can't face

ANYA:
...Except for bunnies.

Giles´ smile after Buffy´s "Hey I´ve died twice" still gets me every time, I absolutely loved their father daughter dynamic

@kelsie_leighdickinson4067

Hi you've got a new demon the killer clown it's at England do a programme for it😇xxxx

@Dragonlover553

It was truly beautiful. Even the Watcher's Council - who couldn't define love with one of Saint Valentine's bones, a philosophy text book, and the song "What is Love" playing in the background - outright stated that Giles loves Buffy like his own daughter. More than her actual father does. Did. What happened to him?

@vmp916

It's funny you mention it. The Giles-Buffy dynamic in this song is interesting. Notice he is the last one to join in on the second half of the song. You can read that a lot of ways. My take is he is a bit weary about Buffy's current head space. Now he definitely didn't see the whole heaven thing coming, but he probably had his concerns.

Dragonlover553 Hank Summers at last mention was in Spain with his secretary

@hollyatherton3165

Ok, but after Joyce's death, why didn't he come back for his daughters?

@DealerCamel

And ironically, Giles got it right in the first five seconds of the song. Too bad he second guessed himself.

@jarlhenrik

+DealerCamel Lesson for real life even there. When in doubt, always go with your gut.

@RoseTylerxx

Giles was a very intelligent man-but was also very good at talking himself out of things-look at the leaving/not leaving scenario that played out for all of Season 6. But Giles did get it right-proof he knows what he's talking about!

@lesyayandfilksongs

I imagine that the "something isn't right there" part is because of Dawn's involvement.
