She's the One
Savoy Brown Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I was her
She was me
We were one
We were free
And if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
We were young
We were wrong
We were fun
All along
And if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
When you get to where you want to go
And you know the things you want to know
You're smiling.
When you said what you want to say
And you know the way you want to play it
You'll be so high you'll be flying.
Tho' the sea
Will be strong
I know we'll
Carry on
'cause if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one.
When you get to where you want to go
And you know the things you want to know
You're smiling.
When you said what you want to say
And you know the way you want to play it
You'll be so high you'll be flying.
I was her
She was me
We were one
We were free
And if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

Overall Meaning

The lyrical content of Savoy Brown's song She's The One seems to speak of a deep connection between two individuals, perhaps even hinting at romantic love. The repetition of "I was her, She was me, We were one, We were free" suggests that the singer and this other person were deeply intertwined and shared a special bond, one that was rooted in both youth and recklessness. The lyrics go on to say that if someone were to call out to the singer, it is this person who would be his or her anchor, the one who would bring him back to reality and remind him of their connection.

The lyrics also speak of a journey of self-discovery, indicated by the lines "When you get to where you want to go, And you know the things you want to know, You're smiling". This implies that the singer has found a sense of fulfillment and contentment, having discovered their purpose in life. The song seems to be celebrating the importance of having someone to share life's journey with, and the idea that no matter what challenges come their way, they can always count on each other.

@4bluesmenr

Though Savoy Brown's lineup changed numerous times over the years, the SOUL of the band remained intact. Kim Simmonds (and Savoy Brown in general) should have a place in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame for sure!

@4bluesmenr

Simmonds is listed on nearly every list of greatest guitarists out there, when will he get his due?

@JackieKixx

@4bluesmenr I think so too! But I think they are better in the late 70´s, 80´s and 90´s than 60´s! :) But I agree, a place in " RNRHOF " for Savoy brown!

@JackieKixx

@4bluesmenr I wish I could answet that question, but I can´t. But I agree with you my friend.
