Hanging On The Telephone

I'm in the phone booth
It's the one across the hall
If you don't answer
I'll just ring it off the wall
I know he's there but I just gotta call
Hanging on the telephone
Don't leave me
Hanging on the telephone
I hear your mother now she's going out the door
Did she go to work or just go to the store
All those things she said I told you to ignore
Oh, why can't we talk again
Oh, why can't we talk again
Oh, why can't we talk again
Don't leave me
Hanging on the telephone
Don't leave me
Hanging on the telephone
It's good to hear your voice
You know it's been so long
If I don't get your calls then everything goes wrong
I want to tell you something you've known all along
Don't leave me
Hanging on the telephone
I had to interrupt this small-piece conversation
Your voice across the line gives me a strange sensation
I'd like to talk but I could show you my affection
Oh, I can't control myself
Oh, I can't control myself
Oh, I can't control myself
Don't leave me
Hanging on the telephone
Don't leave me
Hanging on the telephone
Don't leave me, don't leave me
Don't leave me.
( Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello )
The song "Hanging on the Telephone" by Scheer is about a person desperately wanting to speak to someone they are trying to call. The lyrics suggest that the person is in a phone booth and has been repeatedly calling the person, but they are not answering the phone. The desperation can be heard in the repetition of the line "don't leave me hanging on the telephone." The person hears background noise through the phone and imagines the whereabouts of the person they are trying to reach.
The second verse suggests that the person's mother is leaving the house, and the person is left wondering why they cannot have a conversation with the person they are calling. The chorus is repeated again as the person tries to get through to the person on the other line.
In the final verse, the person is forced to interrupt their own conversation to express their feelings to the other person. The person cannot control their emotions because of their desire to speak to the person on the other line. The song ends with the person continuing to plead for the other person not to leave them hanging on the telephone.
Overall, "Hanging on the Telephone" showcases the desperate need for human connection and communication in a world where sometimes people may feel disconnected, lonely, and unsure about their relationships with others.

One of the most unique covers of this iconic song that I've heard. I'm into the slow and low approach, and as such, BRAVO.
