Blue Christmas
Scott Bradlee Postmodern Jukebox feat. Kate Davis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'll have a blue christmas, without you.
I'll be so blue, thinkin about you.
Decorations of red
On a green Christmas tree.
Won't be the same dear
If you're not here with me.
And when those blue snowflakes, start fallin,
Thats when those blue memories, start callin.
You'll be doin all right, with your Christmas of white,
But ill have a blue, blue Christmas.

And when those blue snowflakes, start fallin,
Thats when those blue memories, start callin.
You'll be doin all right, with your Christmas of white,

But ill have a blue, blue Christmas.
But ill have a blue, blue Christmas.

Overall Meaning

The song "Blue Christmas" by Scott Bradlee Postmodern Jukebox feat. Kate Davis is a sorrowful reminder of the loneliness and heartbreak felt during the holiday season. The singer of the song laments about having a blue Christmas without the person they love. The first two lines of the song perfectly encapsulate the sentiment of the piece, with the repetition of the phrase "I'll have a blue Christmas" emphasizing the singer's sadness. The singer then goes on to say that they will be thinking about the person they're missing, and that the decorations of red on a green Christmas tree won't be the same without their loved one.

Kate Davis is one tremendous musician! A laidback and yet totally engaging singing style. A concise bass style that precisely fits whatever Ms. Davis plays. Can you tell that I think Kate Davis is GREAT??

Dang, Chip's restraint and accuracy is crazy. Such a great drummer/percussionist.

Well done! They made this "not so crazy about" song to "i love it" song! They even coordinated so well, when to looked at Elvis and turned to Kate at a same time! How cute! Love the drummer too!

Like many others that have posted comments, I don't do Christmas music before Thanksgiving, but I am glad I made an exception in this case.  Kate is just fantastic. and bringing Adam in is a stroke of genius.  Love the PMJ.  More, more more more!!!
