Summer of 1975. I was 13. I played this on vinyl over and over. I vividly remember laying in the hot summer sun in Tennessee and everything feeling like it was perfect. I wish I could go back. My parents have passed away....so much has changed.......life was so easy back then.

Seals & Crofts was one of the best duets of our generation . . like most of you I was a teenager when these guys were so popular. Closer to You is one of the best romantic love songs of all time. I was a life guard in N. Fla. 76',77',78' . . Summer Breeze, Diamond Girl, Hummingbird were so special. To all of you who were teenagers in the 70's !!!!! These were the BEST YEARS.

You were a genius lyricist and gave us so many wonderful memories. I still have most of your songs on my pc. Like a Summer Breeze, you made us all feel fine when your music came blowing gently through our minds. The first time I heard about the Baha'i Faith with its wonderful message of unity which the world needs more now than ever was in your music. This song is stuck in my head after so many years, having recently heard it on WHLC 104.5 in southwest NC. 60s got it started..You should have been there when it all changed in 64.I was down town.I use to shine shoes for a dime...One day I was walking up Main Street with my shine box hanging from my shoulder.with a leather strap..I came across.a store called Kreskys Dept. Store..There was a line of kids from the door all the way up the street and around the corner..I asked one of the kids what they were doing.She said I'm going to buy the Beatles record...So I walked to the front of the line.and looked in the door..A large poster of these guys with longer hair was pinned to.the wall..It said Meet the Beatles..I was hooked in an instant and I knew somehow that the world would. change..And it did..Amazing free time
..Wish I could go back.

Memories rushing back of my childhood. This song always reminds me of a church trip I went on, had to be either 1974 or 1975, black mountain nc, thought our bus driver was the coolest, he had this on 8 track and we all got to jam to this and diamond girl both departure and return trip, both songs immediately take me back to being 10 years old, living simple life, no worries of anything bad. One of the first albums I bought with my paper route money at 12 years old. We lived to hear our favorite songs on the radio. These guys got a lot of air play locally because they always played a concert at the Bangor auditorium in August. I wanted to be old enough to go to a concert.....but my folks were very strict. I was born in '58, so the 70s were my teen years; first love, high school, the good, the bad, and music like this got me through it all. It truly is amazing what an ecclectic mix the 70s was. In any year of the decade, in the Top 40 you'd get soft acoustic ballads mixed with disco and "heavy metal". It was so interesting and crazy to have Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, The Carpenters, Seals and Crofts, Jim Croce and some funky disco song all sharing space on the chart. Now, we have....<sigh>.... Take me back, please.

Oh the memories......I was a senior in high school, ending a drug habit at an early age. I was getting free of that, and songs like this refreshed me, gave me a lift, and took me someplace else other than the drug culture I had been in. When I was in junior high, I saw them for the first time at the Anaheim Convention Center. Dash threw his mandolin pick into audience and I was able to to get it. Also saw them at the Hollywood Bowl and the opening act was Deardorf and Joseph. Memories. Ahhh

Tonight while the lights are shinning and the microphone is on..........i'll play for you! Jim Seals and Dash Crofts were one of the best "DUO" groups of the 70's. It's a shame they didn't continue on later in life. These two made absolute MAGIC together with their voices. Their harmonies were like no other. They went to the brink of superstardom and then decided it was time to stop. They did a few engagements together in later years but nothing significant or long lasting. There are few duo's that had the right stuff in their harmonies as significant as Seals and Crofts. Simon and Garfunkle are one other group similar to them. But Seals and Crofts just seem to crank out the super hits one right after the other and their voices worked so very well together. I'll play for you is a song that really brought out their perfect harmony together more so than any other song they did together.

16 in 1976. Dad gave me Mom's 69 Cutlass. Got a job parking cars at an upscale restaurant. First thing I bought was an 8-track player / FM radio with 4 speakers. Ordered 12 free 8-tracks when I joined Columbia House. Received Queen, ELO, Eagles, America, Hall & Oats, ans Seals & Crofts to name a few. Hear The Band was one of my many favorites.

so summer of '75! We were all so young and so thin...And we would sing along to songs like this one on the A.M. radio in our cars...Would give anything to go back to times like this.
