Most of Snow’s music is synthpop, but his debut album (Hopefully Lost) contains many other elements, ranging from disco to classical.
Snow began his musical career at age four, when he first started taking piano lessons. He wrote his first ‘real’ song at age ten, to commemorate the loss of his pet dog. Even at that age, Snow viewed music as a way to cope with pain and hardship- a view he holds to this day. On his fifteenth birthday his uncle gave him some recording software as a present, and he recorded an entire song that night.
Since then, his entire life has been devoted to music. The seven songs that appear on Hopefully Lost were selected from a collection of over two hundred songs that Snow has written in the past four years.
Over the last nine months, Snow has traveled the country, taking in the sights and searching for inspiration for his new album. He has lived in enormous cities, in small towns, and even in a tent in New Mexico surrounded by coyotes and mountain lions. His journey has temporarily ended in Swanton, Ohio, where he has settled down for the time being.
Besides his album, Snow is also involved in the music ministries of several churches in Ohio, where he currently resides- Southgate Church in Toledo, and Swanton Alliance Church in Swanton, Ohio. Snow has been involved in church worship throughout his entire teenage and adult life. He has played for multiple churches in Toccoa, Georgia; Greenville, South Carolina; Portland, Oregon; and of course Swanton and Toledo, Ohio.
September Snow was created in February, 2010. Snow had used several names in the past, his first childhood alias was “Christonphero.” Christon and Phero are the greek words that combine to create his name, Christopher.
Snow also spent a short period of time going under the name “Hopefully Lost.” No longer a name, Hopefully Lost is now the title of September Snow’s debut album.
Snow’s music has been influenced by a variety of musicians and artists. For inspiration, Snow looks to musicians such as Johnny Cash, U2, Randy Newman, Rich Mullins, and Angels & Airwaves. His current musical style, however, bears the most resemblance to artists such as Owl City, The Postal Service, and Sigur Rós.
Although his first album (Hopefully Lost) falls under the genre of synthpop, Snow stresses the fact that he is not tied down to any specific label or style of music. He has a firm understanding of nearly every style of music, from classical to hip-hop, and he is constantly adapting his talents to match his surroundings and his environment.
But, whatever may change in the future, one thing will always remain the same. As a Christian, Snow strives to make it clear that all of his music is written completely for God. It’s sole purpose is to help people, to make a difference, and to point people towards hope. Snow’s songs often raise important questions, and he is always willing and eager to talk about them with anyone who disagrees, or who is unsatisfied with the answers and solutions provided in his music. Salt air, and the rust on your door
I never needed anything more
Whispers of "Are you sure?"
"Never have I ever before"
But I can see us lost in the memory
August slipped away into a moment in time
'Cause it was never mine
And I can see us twisted in bedsheets
August sipped away like a bottle of wine
'Cause you were never mine
Your back beneath the sun
Wishin' I could write my name on it
Will you call when you're back at school?
I remember thinkin' I had you
But I can see us lost in the memory
August slipped away into a moment in time
'Cause it was never mine
And I can see us twisted in bedsheets
August sipped away like a bottle of wine
'Cause you were never mine
Back when we were still changin' for the better
Wanting was enough
For me, it was enough
To live for the hope of it all
Cancel plans just in case you'd call
And say, "Meet me behind the mall"
So much for summer love and saying "us"
'Cause you weren't mine to lose
You weren't mine to lose, no
But I can see us lost in the memory
August slipped away into a moment in time
'Cause it was never mine
And I can see us twisted in bedsheets
August sipped away like a bottle of wine
'Cause you were never mine
'Cause you were never mine, never mine
But do you remember?
Remember when I pulled up and said, "Get in the car"
And then canceled my plans just in case you'd call?
Back when I was livin' for the hope of it all, for the hope of it all
"Meet me behind the mall"
Remember when I pulled up and said, "Get in the car"
And then canceled my plans just in case you'd call?
Back when I was livin' for the hope of it all (for the hope of it all)
For the hope of it all
For the hope of it all
(For the hope of it all)
(For the hope of it all)
