Prototype
Septic Flesh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Working, breeding
A hidden code inside
Tireless, effective
Integral part of the hive

We must control the masses
We have to rule their fears
We are the Will Divine
The Will Divine

Brainwaves, feelings
On programs we design
Clockwork empire
You are the prototype
Lunatic demigod
A faulty code inside
Lunatic demigod
The Prototype

From an artificial cell...
From an artificial human cell

Once you were sentient beings
Once you dared to live with laughs and tears
Now you are only human machines
Our humanoid toys that mimic living

Brainwaves, feelings
On programs we design
Clockwork empire
You are the prototype
Lunatic demigod
A faulty code inside
Lunatic demigod
The Prototype

From an artificial cell...
From an artificial human cell

Once you were sentient beings
Once you dared to live with laughs and tears
Now you are only human machines
Our humanoid toys that mimic living

Once you were sentient beings with laughs and tears
Now you are only human machines
Our humanoid toys that mimic living

Idols, arhetypes, icons and scarecrows

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Septic Flesh's song "Prototype" are a commentary on the dangers of technological advancement and how it can lead to the dehumanization and control of individuals. The song paints a dystopian picture of a world where humans are reduced to machines, manipulated and controlled by a superior force. The opening lines of the song, "Working, breeding, a hidden code inside, tireless, effective, integral part of the hive," paint a picture of a society where individuals are reduced to nothing more than worker bees, their lives completely controlled by those in power.

The chorus of the song, "Brainwaves, feelings, on programs we design, clockwork empire, you are the prototype, lunatic demigod, a faulty code inside, the prototype," highlights the idea that humans are being reduced to nothing more than machines, their thoughts and emotions being manipulated and controlled by external sources. The song also touches on the idea of man playing god, as the lyrics mention the creation of artificial humans, or prototypes, and the idea that humans are being elevated to the status of gods, controlling the fate of others.

Fine art quality works, expresive and relflective lyrics, brutal drumms and exellent guitar execution. Without mentioning the powerfull dark atmosferic orchestra. This is what humanity should call MUSIC. 10 of 10.

@ThePandE

Right now Greece is no. 1 for quality of bands in the black metal and melodic/symphonic death metal genres.

@empire0

I'd say Finland is better for melo death, but Greece is up there in thrash metal too. It's sorta strange how countries you wouldn't assume would produce such good metal seem to keep putting out amazing bands.
