After Mercury Records decided not to take out their option on a fourth Alisha's Attic album, Shelly (sometimes spelled as Shellie) started work on a solo career. She has also written for/with Lene Nystrom and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Her first (and so far only) album, entitled Hard Time for the Dreamer was released in September 2005 on the Transistor Project record label, and reached the Top 10 on the UK and French iTunes charts.
On May 8 2006 she released "Lost In You", this was not long after she also turned up as vocalist on Michael Gray's follow up to "The Weekend" in 2005 (but the song was released as a single in 2006). It's a house tune called "Borderline", which was so far peaked at #12 on the UK Singles Chart, #2 on the UK Upfront Club Chart and #3 on the ARIA Club Chart among others.
Poole has also had a track added exclusively to her myspace page called "Do What You Want", which is a duet with a country music singer called Charity Hair who is lead vocalist for The Ailerons.

One more and I'm gonna die
Wired out waiting for the sign
Coz your a risk and I'm borderline
All I know is I've been sitting with this fire and it burns inside
Man if you want me to walk your line then don't stop at eight no lets take it
To the nine's
Because man I really need it
To the nine's
I may be full but It's not enough
Come and show me how to feel it
All or nothing
You know that's how I play the game and I'm ready now
Man if you want me, come cross the line and
Slide up to eight then lets take it
To the nine's
Shelly Poole's song "Borderline" captures the desperation of an infatuation that is in danger of going too far. The lyrics suggest that the singer has been waiting and hoping for a sign that the object of their affection feels the same way, but they also acknowledge that this person is a risk. The repetition of the phrase "to the nine's" highlights a sense of urgency, as if the singer is willing to do whatever it takes to make this relationship work.
The opening stanza sets the tone for the rest of the song - the singer is on the edge and about to reach their breaking point. They can't continue to live in this state of emotional limbo, waiting for someone else to make the first move. The second stanza reveals that the singer is willing to take a risk and pursue this relationship more aggressively, but they need the other person to meet them halfway. The repeated references to "the nine's" suggest that they are looking for a high-intensity, all-consuming love that will fill the void they feel inside.
Overall, "Borderline" is a powerful reflection on the rollercoaster ride of falling in love. The lyrics capture the mix of excitement and fear that comes with the initial stages of a new relationship, and the deep longing for connection that can drive us to take risks and put our hearts on the line.
