The fi… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least two artists who record under the name "Shima".
The first is the famous Malaysian singer (see first description); the second is an electronic, experimental musician from Auckland, New Zealand (see second description).
Shima (born and raised in Banting, Kuala Langat, Selangor, Malaysia) is a famous Malaysian singer, active in the late 80s and the early 90s.
Shima's first musical influences were from her father who loved music and played the guitar, some of the artists she has credited as her influences are Lobo, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones (Most of the 60's and 70's British groups were popular with her parents). Throughout her youth Shima enjoyed singing, always singing while doing chores or studying.
Shima's voice is very versatile, she sings very soft ballads to hard rock anthems with ease and enjoys all types of vocals.
Shima started her professional singing career in the late 1980's singing in clubs with various musicians singing all types of music from "Folk" to "Hard Rock". Singing in the clubs was a good way for her to cut her teeth and learn about the music industry, while there were tough times, she knew she wanted to sing and worked hard to make her dreams come true.
During this time she met Lord from the band "The Boys" and he asked her to sing a few songs with the band and eventually became the lead singer with the Boys. After performing in clubs for less than a year they were discovered and offered a recording contract with CBS (SONY Music) in the late eighties. In 1989 they recorded "Kelkatu Gugur Sayapnya" as the group "Shima and The Boys" - the only album recorded with "The Boys".
In 1990, Shima started her solo career by recording a self titled album with SONY Music Malaysia, this was to be the first of 7 albums including one all English album.

Medicine
Shima Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It' s my medicine
Hey he' s someone else
But someone else is someone' s precious person
Hey this all is fake
Cause maybe there' s some fix to it all
見つかった Place
遠かった Way
そこには年老いた占い師
たった一人きり Living
妖しく光る小瓶差し出し
妖しく笑った彼女は Say
No one, no one will find out
あなたの願いを叶えなさい
So come on don' t you delay
Make your wish come true today Maybe you' re just afraid
To make them unhappy one day
Oh magic medicine
My medicine
But did you know
Forbidden medicine
That gives someone your sins
男は小瓶 一気に Drink
瞬間 Be found
忽然 Be gone
男の願い 見事叶い
やっと終わった消し去った Cars
その後の男の行方知れず
その姿を見た者はおらず
Maybe you' re just afraid
To see them unhappy one day
Oh magic medicine
My medicine
But did you know
Forbidden medicine
That gives someone your sins
Oh magic medicine
My medicine
But did you know
Forbidden medicine
Oh if it were you would you take this bad drug
When the one that you love
Will you take this to fix misery
Oh magic medicine
Just poison
But did you know
Nothing comes for free
It' s not a true story
In the song "Medicine" by Shima, the lyrics delve into the idea of a magical potion that can solve problems and grant wishes. The first verse introduces the concept of this "magic medicine" and portrays it as something personal and significant to the singer. It suggests that this medicine holds the power to change circumstances and potentially heal emotional wounds.
The following lines "Hey he's someone else, but someone else is someone's precious person" suggest that the singer desires someone who is currently involved with another person. However, they acknowledge that this situation is not real or genuine, possibly hinting at the idea of a forbidden love or unrequited feelings. The lyrics reflect the hope that there might be a solution to this complicated situation.
The next few paragraphs mention a traveler who finds a place and crosses a long and difficult path to encounter an elderly fortune-teller. This fortune-teller holds a mysterious glowing vial and offers it to the traveler, telling them that no one will know about their wishes if they drink it. This highlights the temptation and desire for a quick fix to personal problems or desires.
The third verse introduces a man who drinks from the vial and suddenly disappears. His wishes are granted, and all traces of his existence are erased. The lyrics suggest that after consuming the potion, the man's whereabouts become unknown to everyone who has witnessed his presence. This could symbolize the consequences or sacrifices one may face when seeking instant gratification or attempting to change their circumstances through unnatural means.
The final verse questions whether the listener would be willing to take this dangerous and forbidden drug for the sake of love. It implies that, even though the medicine may offer a temporary fix and seem appealing, it ultimately comes at a cost. The lyrics warn against the notion that nothing in life is truly free and that the consequences of seeking the easy way out can be detrimental.
Overall, the song "Medicine" by Shima explores the allure of a magical solution to life's problems, particularly in the realm of love and desire. It examines the temptation to take shortcuts and the potential consequences of seeking instantaneous remedies. The lyrics caution against the false hope of an easy fix and emphasize the importance of facing reality and acknowledging the true cost of such actions.
