I'm gone
I'm gone completely out of my mind
Beg you to love me sometime
'Cause your love is mine
Ooh, baby
My, how it seems sweet, your crying
Why did you tell me all those evil lies?
I just have to say goodbye
I'm gone
Seem as though you've gone far away
I can't sleep both night or day
Please come back and stay
Ooh, baby
I'll give you one more chance
All because I need your romance
'Cause your love is mine
'Cause your love is mine
'Cause your love is mine
'Cause your love is mine

My mother had the Shirley & Lee rhythm and blues compilation album "Let The Good Times Roll" (Guest Star Records) in the late 50βs; more than a decade later, when I was 16, I bought the disco lp Shirley & Company-"Shame, Shame, Shame" (Vibration/All Platinum Records), the title cut which became an international sensation. Mother and I did not know that the "Shirley" on both albums was the same woman, Shirley Goodman, who also sang with The Rolling Stones on their "Exile On Main Street" album.

This brings back memories of staying up late to listen to Huggy Boy on XPRS Radio in So-Cal when I was a kid. I remember in the late '60's, Low Riders hanging out at Irvine Park playing this on the old 8-Track Players. Shirley came out of retirement briefly and had a hit titled Shame, Shame, Shame as Shirley And Company. I believe the song written by Sylvia Robinson.
