Regarding first point that you raised
I think Imtiaz deliberately staged first scene like that to show that at the start of the movie this is just an event that nobody really cares about esp people who didn’t know chamkila. It’s just another news piece. Then through the movie, we get to know Chamkila and then at the end it means something else entirely when we see the same scene again at the end. Basically, why would people who have no clue about Chamkila see the event any differently than how Imtiaz showed in the first scene

The backbone of IMTIAZ’s movie has always been Irshad Kamil. He deserves better attention.
His lyrics in Imtiaz’s movies are eternal as in they aren’t just based on moment in film rather they are open ended and that’s what the beauty of his lyrics is.
Eg even in this movie though he was portraying the vulgarity of chamkila’s song in naram kalija but in isolation it can be seen as anthesis of male chauvinism.
Similarly in jab we met tumse hi din hota hai can also be perceived as devotional song yet at the same time it fits perfectly as romantic song and similarly many more.

@@raja-jl9os ive only seen very softcore erotic stuff side of the bhojpuri with industry. granted every indian industry has those. this wass a problm with the south industries in the 90s- mid 2010s. even tlgu which was notoriously erotic has dialld it down a bit, not a lot but enough to not be rpresented by it.Then again telgu industry has made some insane strides over the years with gems like bahubali and other visul spectacles. Maybe I might be unfamiliar with bhojpuri industry industry in general , but ive evr actually come across some movie that would be like really fun to watch sans the machismo and the eroticism. Plus it also doesnt help that many do not come with subtitles .so for us uninitiated and strangers to th bhojpuri industry, its n industry that help us gets our rocks off.the industry itself requires a renaissance/upheavel thst brings btter craftsmen on all fronts to the fold and disassociating itself from the low brow stuff

Born in wrong times. After rockstar this was a movie which touched something inside of me in terms of religion, society, politics and hypocrisy built around it. Chamkila was just Niki Minaj or Ariana grande or any pop artist from today but born in wrong times. I’m sure this is still prevalent in India, esp in rural India. But he was a real artist, how many minds he must have challenged and changed, how many minds he must have inspired to be themselves, how many unnecessary taboos he must have broken, that’s what real artists do. And that’s what Imitaz Ali, AR Rahman, Diljit Dosanj and Parineeti Chopra did by playing such pivotal roles in bringing this story to us. It was a beautifully put together art piece❤

Amar Singh"Chamkila"a true biopic in every sense which talks about flaws rather than a complacent cinematic Liberty Imtiaz Ali could have taken.Diljit pulled off a stellar performance that will stay with us in a long time to come with no shying away from the rest of the cast who even performed with at most honesty and conviction.Of course, no discussion would be complete without mentioning its soul-stirring soundtrack which have its own mark with Rahman's artistic touch.

Gone are the days where Bollywood masterpieces were witnessed in theatres.

This deserved a theatrical release for the craft of love - Imtiaz + Diljith + Rahman.
Diljith deserved to be pulled into the Bollywood big leagues or as recognised as pan-Indian star from Punjab. He was just brilliant. ❤

I saw Imtiaz Ali in DU in November 2023. I met him in front of an elevator. I saw him. Glanced at him and then nodded. And Imtiaz nodded back. Then we glanced eyes him at gardens of the college. Everyone was awe at him and I just waved by hands to him as we do to a person we saw daily and just wave hands with a smile and he waved back. Everyone was at awe at how he casually greeted me that way. It was always my wish to meet him someday and I never thought it will be this way. Rockstar has been my best movie till now and he is the most admired director by me. I could have asked from autograph but I feel he is nit the man you just want an autograph. I want to meet him one day and chat with him for hours about his thoughts, life and philosophy. Imtiaz it has been a long wait and you delivered a gem again.

It is a cult film and probably will be loved years later too. It has certain raw nostalgic layers of that time period, apart from the main story, those kinds of emotions which are mostly discarded now at least in cities. Pariniti Chopra is beyond the rat race, she is yet to do great performances. Daljit Dosanjh is a multi talented person indeed, and so real and natural. The movie is playing inside my head.

It's a beautiful film that describes societies view point on artist, good way and bad way. What truly elevates the film is its commentary and some that are street relatable in todays society like Sidhu Mosewala case and many others. The ending with the police officer really questions us on our moral beliefs and justification of freedom of expression and cost that comes with it. It may be a biopic of Amar Singh Chamkila but also a love story of a artist and his audiences.

Also amazing in the movie is the actor playing Jatonder Jinda (Udaybir Sandhu). His few lines and excellent facial expressions only were enough to show a gem that is waiting to be exploited..
