SikTh's style of music is hard to categorize and as they incorporate many different elements of technical metal, metalcore, death metal, groove metal, rock and hardcore. They are commonly categorized as progressive metal due to their unorthodox approach, as well as technical metal and mathcore due to the complex nature of their instrumental playing abilities.
Their debut EP Let The Transmitting Begin was first released in the UK in 2002, featuring songs that all appeared on their debut album, The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out… Wait For Something Wild, which was released August 18, 2003 on Gut Records. Two singles were released from the album, namely Scent Of The Obscene and Peep Show.
SikTh’s second album Death of a Dead Day was released in the UK June 26, 2006 after the band performed at Download Festival 2006. Later that year the band headlined the Collision Course festival in Bridgend and Yeovil and performed across the UK for their own headline tour.
The band announced their split in May 2008 after a hiatus of a few months, stating that 'if it were viable for us to carry on - we would'.

A little man named Rod
Who did not have a mind of his own
Just went along with his pathetic lonely life.
Even when he went to school
The teacher said "jump!"
And he jumped and he jumped and he jumped!
Never let his feelings out
Didn't have any friends
Once he left school he hoped
This would
All change now.
But it was not to be
The world for him to see
Mercy!
Oh, mercy!
Argha!
He had to get a job
Wanted to go somewhere to relax for a while
He went to work on a boat as a cabin boy...
"Get on you knees and scrub the decks,
I want to see you sweating. Make sure you're
In my quarters around half past ten this evening..."
He didn't like this one bit
He got to get another job
So he jumped off the boat
And swam to shore
To work on the beach in a bar.
He met a chick working there
Just like him
Not too pretty
Not too pretty
She was sad & lonely just like him.
They went to the cinema together and then
Went back to his room, back to his room
Made sweet lovin' to each other's only friend,
Only friend.
The night after he walked out of his room,
Heard a voice shout...
"Boy! Go pick the dead rats outta the drain!!"
First day
But it's OK
From then, talks to Rodney like shit all day
But Rod, doesn't do anything, just keeps it in.
He thinks: 'fuck it! I just put up with this shit,
I got a girl and a friend, I don't need nothing else'
"How are you doing, my good man?
(As Rodney gazes at Miranda)
I see you got good taste,
Miranda is nice girl, very nice girl..."
"What's that supposed to mean?
You trying something, say it!
Very friendly girl? Very friendly girl?
What's that supposed to mean...?"
Where does he go from here?
What's going on?
"Miranda your girl?"
"Yeah, what of it?"
"She very good expressing her affection for her friends,
She my girl, your girl, everyone's girl..."
"So you're saying that you and all the
Other people that have come into this here
Bar have been with her?
But no one's come in for days,
Apart from a couple of piss-heads..."
"She had lovely tight cheeks!"
"Not after I saw to her"
Rod was furious
Rod said to Miranda...
"How could you do this to me?"
"Well, once I was with you my whole life changed!"
"So you got the confidence to disgrace yourself?"
"No longer do I want to be a slave!"
"What? What did you say?!"
Asked Miranda would she say sorry...
"You're weird, stay away from me!"
Then he put some Laxatives into her tea...
And he was on his own again...
The lyrics of Sikth's song "How May I Help You?" tells the story of a little man named Rod who simply goes along with his pathetic and lonely life, never standing up for himself or expressing his true feelings. In school, Rod blindly follows the teacher's orders, and even in his job as a cabin boy on a boat, he endures mistreatment and harassment from his boss until he eventually quits. Rod then finds work at a bar on the beach, where he meets a girl who is just as sad and lonely as he is. They start a relationship, but Rod soon finds out that she has been with many other people, including his own boss, causing Rod to feel betrayed and furious. In revenge, he puts laxatives in her tea, and he ends up alone once again.
The song seems to be exploring themes of individuality, self-expression, and standing up for oneself. Rod's character is a representation of someone who lacks self-confidence and agency in their own life, leading to feelings of isolation and loneliness. Through his experiences, the song encourages listeners to take charge of their own lives, voice their opinions, and not let others dictate their actions or emotions. The ending, where Rod uses laxatives to betray his girlfriend, suggests that revenge is not a healthy way to deal with hurt and betrayal, and that true growth and transformation come from empowerment and self-love.
