Remove from me the wounds I′ve grown
There in between reality and distance
You can find in me the woman of your dreams
Stand still. Little clouds are coming out of your mouth now
Stand still, Deep green fields behind you
Grey sky will soon become yellow light
Do you think we're pretending
It′s easier now we are far
We can imagine our fearless love
We've never dared to drown in
We've never dared to drown for
Stand still. Little clouds are coming out of your mouth now
Stand still, Deep green fields behind you
Grey sky will soon become yellow light
There in between reality and distance
You can find in me the woman of your dreams
The lyrics of Sivan Levy's "Stand Still" exude a sense of longing and yearning, and the desire to be someone else's ideal. The opening lines, "Dress me with the features you wanted me to have, Remove from me the wounds I’ve grown" express the need to meet someone's expectations. The following line, "There in between reality and distance, You can find in me the woman of your dreams" shows that the singer is aware that she may not be someone's dream woman in reality, but perhaps in a distant reality, she could be.
As the song progresses, the lines "Do you think we're pretending, It’s easier now we are far," portray the idea that distance and detachment can make things easier. Love that is just an idea is easier to handle than the real thing. The following line, "We can imagine our fearless love, We've never dared to drown in, We've never dared to drown for" expresses the fear of drowning in love, and the comfort of living in a safe, detached state.
The chorus, "Stand still. Little clouds are coming out of your mouth now, Stand still, Deep green fields behind you, Grey sky will soon become yellow light," gives the feeling of transience and the change from a dull, grey sky to a sunnier, brighter one. The song highlights the hope of change, of becoming something more, and of wishing to be in the perfect state where fantasies and reality meet.
