(I love you)
But I hate the intelligence
Of your mouth
I need you
(I need you)
But I don’t need to be told
Get on your knees
Just
Let Me Go
Let me be
Set me Free
Now
Oh, that would be lovely
Let me know
That you’ll be
What I need
Now
Oh, that would be lovely
And I
I will lift you up
If you don’t let me down
I just need your trust
And I need it…
Now
I know you
(I know you)
But I can't place
Your face right now
I want to
But there’s no time to figure
Out, out
Runnin’ like a renegade
Too late
Because there’s no time to hesitate
Get straight
There’s only one thing I can say
Now
Just
Let Me Go
Let me be
Set me Free
Now
Oh, that would be lovely
Let me know
That you’ll be
What I need
Now
Oh, that would be lovely
And I
I will lift you up
If you don’t let me down
I just need your trust
And I need it
Now
I need you
Now
I want you
Can I make it to the top
Will I know when I should stop
I don’t want to
Everybody says its pretend
If they know what I have got
I will never give it up
I will always want you
And everybody knows
Just
Let Me Go
Let me be
Set me Free
Now
Oh, that would be lovely
Let me know
That you’ll be
What I need
Now
Oh, that would be lovely
And I
I will lift you up
If you don’t let me down
I just need your trust
And I need it
Let Me Go
Let Me Go
Let me be
Set me Free
Oh that would be lovely
Oh that would be lovely
The song Let Me Go by Small Town Sleeper highlights the struggles of being involved with someone who they love, but at the same time cannot stand certain aspects of their behavior. The opening lines state their love for the person, but also express their dislike for the intelligence coming out of their mouth. This could mean that the person they are involved with might not communicate effectively, or that they lack certain understanding or opinions that the singer finds important.
The chorus of the song, where the singer asks to be set free and to be allowed to go, clearly highlights that they want out of the relationship. This seems to be an ultimate decision of the singer, and they are clear in their desire to not be held back anymore. The second verse refers to the time when they met the person in the relationship, but they are not able to recall the face anymore. It highlights the emotional distance between them and their partner, and their hurry to move on.
The song ends with the singer's determination to keep holding on to their desires, and for the need to trust and be trusted. In summary, the song is a portrayal of an individual who has decided that they cannot continue in their current relationship and need to move on with their life.
